The Head of US Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets will have strategic and operational oversight of the Bank's US DCM FIG team within the Investment Banking division. DCM represents one of the core focus products for CIB, and this position is instrumental in driving business growth and achieving the firm's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive and technical understanding of the debt capital markets, extensive experience as a capital markets banker, and a demonstrated history of successful client coverage, deal origination, and execution with US FIG clients. This role demands strong collaborative leadership, strategic insight, and the ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate clients, private equity firms, financial institutions, institutional investors, and globally based colleagues.

As our Managing Director, Head of US Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets you will:

  • Lead and manage the US FIG DCM team
  • Devise and implement strategies that drive business growth
  • Partner with the Coverage teams to originate senior and subordinated debt transactions
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a cohesive team of origination officers and junior colleagues
  • Manage and drive client relationships and act as the primary contact and advisor to targeted client groups
  • Assess client needs to proactively generate relevant ideas and solutions
  • Lead the pitching of the Company's services to new clients
  • Manage the structuring, negotiation, and execution of transactions, including debt financing, hybrid, and preferred capital
  • Provide vision and direction to team members for offering materials, management presentations, client pitches, and the development of other content
  • Perform comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Prepare and review complex financial analyses and models for potential financings / transactions
  • Coordinate with HSBC's deep syndicate and capital markets teams around the globe
  • Bring a natural curiosity, collaborative approach, and critical thinking skills to drive business and development of the team


For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $350,000.00 and $400,000.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in capital markets, industry experience within the specific sector of the position, or a combination of both
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Proven ability in deal origination and execution combined with a deep knowledge of debt markets, rating agency methodology, and the regulatory landscape
  • Demonstrated relationships with industry issuers and institutional investors
  • Experience executing offerings in a variety of global currencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of business development: business vision, strategies, and goals
  • Excellent clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Strong credit and risk management skills
  • Ability to analyse trends in the competitive marketplace and related marketing developments
  • Experience building global partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
  • Valid Series 7, 79. 63 and Series 24 registration held; Registration for requisite FINRA must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire
