About the Role:

The Lower School Principal, in conjunction with the Upper School Principal, has the responsibility for implementing the mission of the school in its regular operations. This position supports the philosophy, principles and characteristics of Catholic education and assures quality service to students, faculty, staff, parents, outside organizations and the wider community. The Lower School Principal must be a collaborative decision maker working with the Upper School Principal, faculty, staff and parents in overseeing every aspect of this ministry. The candidate must have particular knowledge of academic and catechetical curriculum, as well as a solid understanding of best practices with educational technology and current teaching methodologies.

The Lower School Principal must have the ability to relate well with children, parents, teachers, and the community at large, honor the rich traditions and culture of Catholic education and work collaboratively with the Pastor, Regional Superintendent and Upper School Principal to lead the school positively in its mission.

The Lower School Principal must possess an innovative vision of education for the 21st century that includes knowledge of early childhood education and current teaching methodologies. Knowledge of NYC DOH Article 43 protocols is required to ensure program compliance. Familiarity with navigating the IEP/IESP process for both CSE and CPSE, and working with service providers is also necessary.

The Lower School Principal must be able to lead and provide guidance in the admissions process, including overseeing the Director of Admissions, conducting Open Houses, and collaborating with the enrollment team to ensure a welcoming and mission-aligned experience for prospective families. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the NYC parochial and/or independent school landscape, able to communicate the school's value proposition effectively, and possess a strong understanding of market trends, parent expectations, and competitive positioning within the city.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
  • Must have a Masters Degree and a minimum of five years of teaching experience an early childhood educator or in early elementary and/or special education
  • Must have NYS Teacher certification
  • NYS School Building Leader certification and school leadership experience preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred


Salary range is $83,000 - $129,000
