Job Title: System Performance Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled System Performance Engineer to join our Networks Connectivity Engineering division. The successful candidate will perform engineering analysis, develop complex SQL queries, and maintain Python and Visual Basic performance monitoring tools. You will also produce and maintain business intelligence dashboards and analyze performance issues related to aircraft and airline fleets.
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and DataComm Operational Defects Analysis
  • Develop complex SQL queries to gather and analyze engineering performance data
  • Develop complex Python scripts to aid in data analysis
  • Maintain a suite of Python and Visual Basic performance monitoring tools
  • Produce and maintain business intelligence dashboards
  • Perform audits, analyzing call records and logs for all aircraft and identifying issues
  • Become fluent in GLOBALinks communication protocols including ACARS/VDL/ATN/FANS/CPDLC
  • Analyze individual aircraft and airline fleet performance issues
  • Analyze RF Coverage and provide ongoing support related to managing Surface En Route and Transition Region coverage issues
  • Present findings and conclusions to both internal and external groups
Essential Skills
  • Substantial experience in data analysis, including working with data logs, sequence diagrams, statistical analysis, and protocol sequences
  • Proficient in Python programming and SQL
  • Experience in dashboard development using Tableau and Databricks
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience in analyzing performance of complex systems through statistical analysis
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts
  • Visual Basic programming with Visual Studio experience
  • Experience working in communications systems
  • Experience working in a service-oriented business model for engineering
  • Experience working with government customers
  • Experience with aeronautical communication, air traffic management, or airline operations
  • Experience with storage and management of large data
  • Proficiency with tools such as Excel/VBA, R, Matlab, Labview for analyzing large data sets
Work Environment

This role is primarily onsite, requiring presence 4 days a week at our Annapolis, Maryland headquarters. You will work in a team environment and occasionally interact with stakeholders. The position supports the air-to-ground communications system for commercial aviation and government air traffic authorities globally. The system includes radio ground stations, satellite ground-earth stations, airline and civil aviation authority systems, and complex proprietary message processing and system management servers connected by a sizable communication infrastructure. The system evolves continually with networking and communication technologies.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
