DCI Engineers, a leading structural and civil engineering consulting firm with 20+ offices across the United States, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our dynamic team as a full-time Senior BIM Designer in our San Francisco office.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in structural design, deep expertise in Revit, and a passion for leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) to produce accurate and coordinated 3D models of structural systems. The successful candidate will work closely with structural engineers, architects, and other design professionals to integrate and coordinate structural designs within the overall building model. The ideal candidate brings significant experience with BIM tools, a solid understanding of structural systems, and strong problem-solving skills.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in structural design, deep expertise in Revit, and a passion for leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) to produce accurate and coordinated 3D models of structural systems. The successful candidate will work closely with structural engineers, architects, and other design professionals to integrate and coordinate structural designs within the overall building model. The ideal candidate brings significant experience with BIM tools, a solid understanding of structural systems, and strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities of a Senior BIM Designer:
- Create, manage, and update 3D BIM models and 2D drawing for structural systems (e.g., steel framing, concrete) using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and other design disciplines to ensure structural designs are fully integrated into the overall building model.
- Use BIM tools to perform clash detection, identify design conflicts, and work with other disciplines to resolve issues, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Produce structural drawings, details, and schedules directly from Revit models, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company standards.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure model and drawing accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established standards.
- Develop and maintain structural templates, part family libraries, and modeling standards to optimize workflow and ensure design consistency.
- Stay current with the latest trends in Revit, BIM, structural design, and software tools, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and team capabilities.
- Provide technical support to project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure proper implementation of structural designs and resolve any technical issues.
Requirements for a Senior BIM Designer:
- Technical diploma or equivalent experience in structural systems design, with specialized training in BIM.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design or drafting with a strong focus on BIM modeling and coordination.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Solid knowledge of structural systems, including steel, concrete, and wood framing, along with a strong understanding of design and construction principles.
- Experience with clash detection and coordination in a BIM environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- BIM certification is a plus.
- LEED or other sustainability certifications are a plus.
