Job Summary:
The HR Manager will oversee all human resource functions including employee relations, compliance, training and development, benefits administration, and performance management. This role is essential in fostering a positive, safe, and compliant work environment that aligns with the company's operational needs and core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's mission and business objectives.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes for operational, administrative, and leadership roles.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as environmental and industry-specific regulations.
- Maintain accurate HR records, personnel files, and reporting systems.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and workers' compensation.
- Lead onboarding and orientation for new employees, promoting a strong organizational culture from day one.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Oversee performance review processes and support professional development initiatives.
- Champion safety initiatives and collaborate with the Safety Manager to promote workplace health and safety.
- Drive employee engagement and retention programs tailored to a diverse, operational workforce.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- 5+ years of HR management experience, preferably in waste management, environmental services, construction, transportation, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, OSHA regulations, and HR best practices.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (Preferably ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position Monday through Friday 8am- 5pm.
- Typical office environment with regular interactions with field employees and operational management teams.
- Must occasionally visit operational sites for employee support, investigations, and training purposes.
