Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking a Discipline Leader, Transportation Operations to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Canada.
Discipline Leader is a senior-level position responsible for providing leadership and expertise in traffic engineering and transportation operations. The entrepreneurial and innovative individual to grow our Transportation Operations team, ensuring the successful delivery of projects for public and private sector clients.
This role involves project management, technical expertise, and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve high-quality and efficient outcomes. Additionally, you will contribute to the improvement of the practice by prioritizing service delivery and client experience whilst ensuring we have the right team and skillsets to secure new work.
We are looking for candidates with demonstrated experience on complex traffic operations and parking projects. Notable experience should include a leading role completing operational analysis and simulation of arterial roads and higher order transit. The ideal candidate will have experience working with provincial, regional, and municipal jurisdictions.
In addition to your technical expertise and project management, you will take the lead in coordinating business development and client engagement activities, further enhancing our presence in the transportation operations sector.
The successful candidate can be located in any of our offices in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.
Role accountabilities:
This role will be responsible for leadership and team management. This includes providing strong leadership to the municipal discipline team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, and managing staff productivity and utilization. You will serve as Project Manager in a client-facing role, although project management is not the sole focus of this position. You will be responsible for maintaining a reputation for high quality on all technical deliverables.
You will provide technical expertise and serve as the subject matter expert in traffic engineering, staying abreast of industry trends, standards, and best practices. Assemble and manage project teams on exciting and challenging projects, with a focus on supporting land development, managing congestion and improving traffic operations to gain approval from relevant road authorities.
The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and leading client satisfaction. You will also be responsible for team development including mentoring and guide team members, fostering professional growth and development within the discipline, and sourcing the right talent to build a strong and diverse team. You will also ensure projects adhere to all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards in the roads and highways sector.

The salary range for this position is $95,900 - $178,100. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Licensed Professional Engineer with PEO or Certified Engineering Technologist with OACETT
- Ten (10) or more years of experience including a lead role in traffic operations and parking studies such as Project Manager or Technical Lead
- Proven track record in project management and team leadership
- A solid understanding of capacity analysis software (Synchro). Experience with meso- and micro-simulation modelling (VISUM, VISSIM, AIMSUN, Vistro)
- Experience with roundabout analysis software (ARCADY or RODEL) considered an asset
- Extensive experience with TIS guidelines for GTA municipalities, ITE trip generation, and OTM Book guidance
- Experience in curbside management, parking policy review, signal design or civil design considered an asset.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain client relationships
- Experience in business development and proposal preparation
