Purpose of Position:
The Chief Mission Officer (CMO) is responsible for leading and overseeing the Mission Services department, ensuring that all programs and services align with Goodwill Industries of Tulsa's mission and strategic objectives. The CMO will direct programs focused on workforce development, job training, career counseling, and support services, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for individuals facing barriers to employment. This role involves strategic leadership, program development, community outreach, and the management of the mission services budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the design, development, and execution of mission services programs, including workforce development, employment services, and community outreach.
- Program Oversight: Ensure all programs align with Goodwill's mission and are accessible to diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop mission services staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, businesses, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and impact.
- Financial Management: Prepare and manage the mission services budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and financial sustainability.
- Program Evaluation: Monitor program outcomes and utilize data-driven decision-making to assess program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to improve service delivery.
- Community Advocacy: Represent Goodwill in the community, advocating for the organization's mission and programs to build awareness and support. Attends and supports the Community Impact Committee.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all programs meet regulatory requirements and provide regular reports on program performance to the executive team and board of directors.
- Resource Development: Collaborate with other departments to identify funding opportunities, including grants and corporate partnerships, to support mission programs.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of Goodwill's overall strategic plan, ensuring mission services are integrated into broader organizational goals.
Additional Duties:
- Grant Management:
- Lead and manage the launch and closeout of grant-funded projects, ensuring programmatic and fiscal objectives are met.
- Work closely with the Chief Marketing and Development Officer to ensure compliance with all funding requirements and proper documentation for expenditures.
- Actively pursue new grant opportunities to sustain and expand mission services.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure mission services are integrated into overall operations and strategies.
- Regularly communicate mission services initiatives and outcomes within the organization and to the Board of Directors.
- Governmental Relations and Advocacy:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key federal, state and local government agencies, other non-profits, area Chambers, and quasi-governmental entities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to mission services, workforce development, and disability programming.
- Performance and Outcomes Monitoring:
- Establish and implement metrics to track the effectiveness of mission services, such as job placement rates, training outcomes, and participant satisfaction.
- Conduct regular evaluations and root-cause analyses to identify areas for improvement.
- Culture Building:
- Foster a workplace culture of dignity, respect, and inclusivity for all employees and program participants.
- Support and promote a safe and compliant work environment adhering to legal and organizational safety standards.
- Market Analysis and Strategic Trends:
- Monitor and analyze trends in workforce development, social services, and the local economy to adjust mission services and ensure they remain relevant.
- Provide recommendations and strategies to respond to these trends, particularly with regards to population-specific needs (e.g., veterans, reentry populations).
- Board and Executive Reporting:
- Prepare and present regular reports to the executive leadership on the status, challenges, and successes of mission programs.
- Provide guidance on any strategic decisions that impact mission services and the community impact of the organization.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, human services, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in program management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within workforce development or social services.
- Skills:
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Experience in building and maintaining strategic partnerships.
- Financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets and ensure resource efficiency.
- Commitment: Passion for Goodwill's mission and dedication to social justice, workforce development, and helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency.
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Experience in grant writing and securing funding for mission-driven programs.
Environmental and Physical Requirements:
- The majority of duties are performed in an office environment with regulated temperatures, though some duties may require outdoor work in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
