The New Horizons Grant Writer will partner with the Senior Director of Advancement and Communications and the development department to strategically identify new funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and ensure the timely submission of comprehensive reports. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration with all NH teams, engagement with the Board of Directors, and ongoing relationships with members of local and national funding communities to proactively identify and capitalize on grant opportunities, aligning with the organization's overall fundraising strategy and growth objectives and budgetary goals.

Pay Rate: $75k-100k

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must have 5+ years direct experience in grant writing. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must have an in-depth understanding and/or a willingness to learn about the agency, its goals, and methods by which these goals must be realized.

Must have knowledge and successful experience in development best practices, especially related to annual campaigns, major events, and donor relations.

Must have an excellent ability to organize, inspire and to delegate responsibility to volunteers to increase involvement and development success.

Must be highly organized and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be highly computer literate in Word, Excel and have the ability to learn and actively navigate donor-related software related to the department as needed. Must be able to conduct research through the internet and other sources.

Must be able to work effectively with the Development team, other staff, volunteers, the public, and Members with developmental disabilities.

Must be flexible to meet the needs of unexpected assignments and to work evening and weekend hours as needed.

This person will need to drive occasionally for various community visits. The individual should have a dependable vehicle, proof of vehicular insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. At least two years of development experience in a non-profit environment.
