Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Senior EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Specialist to join the team. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement and excellence in Safety and Environmental performance while working independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The Senior EHS Specialist will focus on EHS initiatives, safety policies, and contribute to enhancing the overall EHS program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and promote safe practices in alignment with company policies, compliance requirements, and commitments.
  • Serve as a regulatory compliance resource for safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, including injury, property damage, near-hit events, environmental deviations, etc., and perform root cause analysis with appropriate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Conduct risk and hazard assessments/inspections, suggest and drive actions to mitigate risks.
  • Continuously improve the facility's safety monitoring and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations and safety teams to assess safety strategies for facility projects.
  • Develop action plans for safety activities, coordinate the Safety Committee, and report progress.
  • Facilitate safety, health, and environmental training for all personnel.
  • Maintain and track documentation for compliance with safety and environmental policies and required activities.
  • Support initiatives towards Lean, Kaizen, Cost Reduction, 5S, and other facility improvements.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement for environmental monitoring and recordkeeping data management.
  • Ensure proper management of industrial process wastewaters and compliance with discharge permits.
  • Oversee the management and disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes.
  • Assist in determining appropriate environmental strategies for projects impacting air quality.
  • Ensure all safety, health, and environmental metrics and reports are completed and communicated.
  • Assist with workers' compensation cases as needed.
  • Serve as the training coordinator for EHS-related training programs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Safety-specific training (e.g., OSHA 30 Hour, Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health).
  • 7+ years of experience in safety and/or environmental roles within an industrial setting.
  • Experience as the EHS Leader for at least three years or recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in specific EHS disciplines.
  • Professional certifications in Safety, Environmental, or Occupational Health (e.g., CSP, CIH, OHST, SMS, CEM, CHMM).
  • Strong knowledge of federal safety and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with external agencies and contracted employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong communication, training, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated root-cause analysis skills (e.g., RCCA, 5-Whys).
  • Leadership experience in directing personnel and implementing initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be on-call as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
