The Finance/Auditor's Office provides reliable financial services that ensures financial integrity, promotes accountability in government, and maintains the public trust and overall leadership and direction of the County's financial operations and serve as the County's Chief Financial Officer, Auditor-Treasurer, and Director of Elections.

Grand Forks County is accepting applications for a full-time Finance and Tax Director (County Auditor). The Finance Director/Auditor's primary duties and responsibilities consist of the general oversight of all county's financial records, the strict enforcement of all laws governing county finances, the audit of all records pertaining to county finance, and the ability to ensure the proper collecting and accounting of all funds including money and property held for third parties. Forecasts financial data for budgetary formulation purposes, audits the records and accounts for various county departments, administers the county budget as approved by Board of County Commissioners, prepares and administers accounting records for all county funds, administer Property Tax, Delinquencies, and Tax Forfeitures for taxpayers of Grand Forks County.

The Finance Director/Auditor participates in the coordination of the County Commission Meetings, posting requirements, and recording minutes of the meetings. The Auditor is the County's Chief Election Official responsible for all aspects of elections including certification of candidate filings and candidate campaign finance reporting, voter registration, ballot preparation and proofing, roster generation, training of election clerks and judges, maintenance and security of the election, ensuring all Federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) requirements are met in the polling places, certification of election equipment and all accuracy testing, absentee voting process, identifying and addressing any issues or inaccuracies in election activities, election reporting to the Secretary of State, and is also member of the County Board of Canvass.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in accounting and Certified Public Accountant Certificate preferred, along with 5 years of management and accounting experience required, and plus with experience in government accounting.

STATUS AND HOURS: Full-time, Monday - Friday (based on a 40 hours per week), benefit eligible. There might be a variation in work hours and days to support the department and County needs. This position is not eligible for remote work opportunities.
