Project Kuiper, Amazon's initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit communications satellites, is seeking a Kuiper Security Destruction Manager to lead our secure destruction program. This role is an integral part of protecting Kuiper's intellectual property and ensuring the confidentiality of our innovative space technology.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in security operations, secure destruction, risk management, and supply chain security, with a strong background in managing complex logistics and vendor relationships. This position requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement comprehensive security strategies that are innovative and frugal. This role will be responsible for the development, deployment, and global reach of a secure destruction effort across the Kuiper footprint.

Key job responsibilities
\tManage day-to-day secure logistics operations for physical security of Kuiper hardware pending destruction
\tPlan, coordinate, and execute destruction events involving multiple Amazon teams, vendors, and stakeholders across global locations
\tDevelop and implement security standards for space technology destruction protocols
\tCoordinate secure storage, shipping, and receiving with multiple vendors, ensuring compliance with security requirements, ITAR, and export control requirements
\tDevelop security contract language to protect Amazon's space technology IP
\tManage third-party destruction vendor relationships and ensure contractual deliverables are met
\tDocument and train teams on destruction standards for space technology components
\tMaintain close coordination with Kuiper engineering teams regarding hardware destruction security initiatives
\tBuild and run security operations for secure storage and destruction of satellite and ground station hardware
\tCreate and implement Kuiper-specific secure destruction awareness materials and training globally
\tDevelop and regularly inspect metrics to inform programmatic needs and policy decisions
\tSupport Business Continuity planning for Kuiper hardware security

About the team

The Kuiper Security Team is responsible for protecting critical assets and intellectual property throughout Kuiper's development and manufacturing processes. Our team operates at the intersection of space technology, hardware security, and supply chain management, implementing robust security solutions for one of Amazon's most innovative initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
\t8+ years in security program management
\t5+ years with secure destruction and enforcing protocols for sensitive technology
\tDemonstrated experience managing vendor relationships and complex logistics
\tAbility to work on-site in Redmond, WA with 20-40% domestic/international travel
\tExperience with export control compliance and ITAR requirements

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\tBachelor's degree in Security Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
\tMaster's degree in Security Management, MBA, or related field
\tExperience in aerospace or satellite technology industry
\tCPP, CISM, or PMP Certification
\tLean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
\tTAPA certification or similar secure logistics credentials
\tExperience with confidential material handling and destruction
\tStrong project management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
\tExperience managing global security programs
\tUnderstanding of space technology development lifecycle
\tKnowledge of High-Risk Material to include satellite hardware and communications systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $173,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
