What would my role be?
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Regional Palliative Care Team (RPCT), you will:
- Provide clinical consultation as well as information and education to health care professionals of the entire Champlain region, including the five counties of Eastern Ontario, Renfrew County and Ottawa.
- Collaborate, liaise and maintain good public relations with consumers and with a large number of health care professionals of various agencies and disciplines.
- Be responsible for incorporating the vision, mission and values of the organization in the daily operations of a team.
- Be required to travel within the assigned region.
- Assume after-hours on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
How do I qualify?
Required:
- Undergraduate Degree in Nursing
- Valid certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Palliative Care Nursing and/or in Community Nursing
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Nursing or other related fields**
- Experience with culturally diverse clientele and awareness of cultural issues.
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certification in Hospice Palliative Care and the Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative care (LEAP) training.
- Fluent in French and English.

- Clinical knowledge and expertise in palliative pain and symptom management
- Strong assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge in consultation and ethical decision-making
- Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate information of varying degrees of complexity from various sources
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems and situations
- Ability to assess risks and benefits of alternative approaches in any decision, staying focused on objectives and considering both the short-term and long-term impact of decisions
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritizing of tasks, as well as flexibility in adjusting to priorities in a dynamic environment
- Proven abilities in teaching professionals with strong ability in coaching and mentoring
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational, leadership and team building skills
- Ability to work well under stress in a constantly changing environment
- Demonstrated effective planning, organizing, and evaluation skills to manage multiple clients, provide information reports, and take corrective action as required
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse client groups with varying levels of comprehension and communication
- Strong ability to manage difficult conversations /situations in a healthy and effective manner
- Excellent ability to work effectively in both a team environment and autonomously as required
- Demonstrated effective listening and strong facilitation skills
- Willingness and means to travel within the assigned region (must have a valid driver's license and a car)
- Intermediate computer skills
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
