Lilly is starting up multiple new Parenteral assets (PAR) in manufacturing to increase our reach to patients. These assets will provide medicine for current and future products and we need to improve the RAMP of these assets (Rapid Acceleration of Medicine to Patients). In order to start these lines with a strong safety, quality, and operationally excellent culture, the Associate Director for PAR RAMP Operations Team Leader will be responsible for a cross functional team supporting all new startup PAR assets by orchestrating experts to support the sites during key milestones, supporting the training and upskilling of newly hired resources at the sites, and developing common processes and practices ultimately improving the RAMP curve for these assets ensuring safety first, quality always, while improving the operational efficiencies of these investments.

This is a unique opportunity to support global startup activities for greenfield manufacturing sites both internally and externally, and the successful candidate will help ensure overall site readiness plans in order to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.

Overview:

The Associate Director, PAR RAMP Operations Team Leader will lead a cross functional team of operational experts for Parenteral Operations to support our new site startups through key milestones such as process validations, and on through licensure and initial operational ramp-up periods. This role will partner with site operational teams and functional area leaders to coordinate resources who are responsible for supporting the sites through key milestones as additional technical capacity with the goal of improving the operational ramp curve for startup.

This role will work closely with Lilly's central engineering, technical services, information technology, HSE, quality assurance, and quality control roles to identify and deploy resources to the different sites and also in close cooperations with the consultant company that will support the Ramp Team in each site. In addition, this role will closely work with network leadership to coordinate assignments for building skills and capabilities of newly hired Lilly employees at the new facilities through training and short-term opportunities working at operational Lilly facilities. Finally, this role will work directly with site leadership to build and maintain a strategic resourcing plan to ensure the needs of their organizations are being met to deliver on-time, right first-time start-ups. This role will be located in the US (preferably at RTP and Concord), but can be based in Indianapolis with 30-50% travel to the various startup sites.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead indirectly, a team of experts across all manufacturing functions that supports the delivery of key milestones for new start-up assets and achieve successful RAMP curves for new investments/assets.
  • Partner with the operations leadership at the targeted site to improve operational mindset and structure including management of process teams, huddles, downtime management, and resource management.
  • Partner with relevant functional leaders to ensure resources are available for start-up activities.
  • Connect and liaise with site leadership at new sites to ensure they have adequate support.
  • Effectively communicate and manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop common tools and practices for site start-up activities to support future start-ups' acceleration to operational readiness.
  • Develop and present performance metrics to appropriate site and network governance forums.
  • Work in a 3-phase model for site support with the first phase helping execute operational activities, second phase of coaching leadership, and third phase of consulting.
  • Establish process, working organization structure to deploy resources to support new asset startups.
  • Coordinate and own efforts with external supplemental staffing and potential consulting companies for additional capabilities to support improvements of RAMP curves of new assets.

  • Ability to manage remote teams in multiple geographies.
  • Strong ability to coach employees to perform at a high level and to build their skills


Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Science) and experience in a functional or operational leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of cGMPs and how they apply to manufacturing operations.
  • Should have a demonstrated track record of successfully developing, managing and executing projects from start to finish on time and within budget, with high performance standards that ensure customer satisfaction.


Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Experience in site/asset start-up activities in a PAR site/process
  • Experience leading an operations team.
  • Experience in cross-cultural communication and influence.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$118,500 - $173,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
