Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Job Specialty: Cardiac/Vascular Operating Room Technician
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour days, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 3 years
License: Not required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Must-Have: Experience with complex vascular procedures, including endovascular, as well as proficiency in thoracic skills
Job Description:
- Perform tasks relevant to the duties of a surgical technologist in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery.
- Assist in cardiac surgery cases, including CABG, valve repair/replacement (open and robotic), ECMO, and transplant procedures.
- Support thoracic surgery cases such as lung resection, robotic and endoscopic procedures, VATS, esophagostomy (open and robotic), POEM, hiatal hernia repair, mediport insertion, EGD, and stent placements in the GI and respiratory systems.
- Participate in vascular surgery procedures, including diagnostic angiography, percutaneous interventions, surgical endarterectomy, dialysis access management, AAA repair (open and endovascular), visceral arterial repair/intervention, and amputation.
- Function effectively as part of a surgical team and follow sterile processing procedures.
- Collaborate with the charge person and navigate self-scheduling for four ten-hour shifts weekly.
- Participate in mandatory call rotations, with response time within 30 minutes; housing is available during call periods if needed.
- Complete a one-week unit orientation, utilize EPIC for charting, and adhere to the call and holiday rotation requirements.
- Wear hospital-provided ceil blue surgical scrubs.
