Job Description

NBCUniversal recherche un directeur/directrice artistique technique chevronn avec une exprience dans les jeux AAA en monde ouvert pour aider dfinir la direction visuelle d'un nouveau projet de divertissement ambitieux.

NBCUniversal is looking for a seasoned Technical Art Director with experience in AAA open-world games to help shape the visual direction of an ambitious new entertainment project.

Responsabilits / Responsibilities:

• Dfinir et mettre en uvre des pipelines artistiques techniques pour la cration de mondes, la gnration procdurale et l'optimisation des actifs en utilisant Unreal Engine 5 et Houdini.
• Dvelopper et optimiser les flux de travail de rendu en temps rel, y compris les shaders, les matriaux, l'clairage et les effets visuels (VFX), en garantissant la fois la qualit visuelle et l'efficacit des performances.
• Collaborer troitement avec le directeur artistique, les quipes d'ingnierie et de conception pour assurer une intgration harmonieuse de la vision artistique et de l'excution technique.
• tablir les meilleures pratiques pour l'optimisation des actifs, le streaming, les niveaux de dtail (LOD) et la gestion de la mmoire afin de maintenir un haut niveau de performance sur toutes les plateformes.
• Diriger la cration d'outils procduraux pour aider les artistes gnrer efficacement des environnements grande chelle.
• valuer et intgrer des outils avancs et des techniques d'automatisation pour amliorer la cration de contenu et la vitesse d'itration
• Guider et encadrer l'quipe artistique technique, en favorisant la collaboration avec les ingnieurs et les artistes pour dvelopper des flux de travail robustes.
• Travailler avec les partenaires de co-dveloppement, en veillant ce que les normes techniques soient respectes et que les actifs s'intgrent parfaitement.

• Define and implement technical art pipelines for world-building, procedural generation, and asset optimization using Unreal Engine 5 and Houdini.
• Develop and optimize real-time rendering workflows, including shaders, materials, lighting, and VFX, ensuring both visual quality and performance efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Art Director, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure a seamless integration of artistic vision and technical execution.
• Establish best practices for asset optimization, streaming, LODs, and memory management to maintain a high level of performance across platforms.
• Lead the creation of procedural tools to assist artists in generating large-scale environments efficiently.
• Evaluate and integrate advanced tools and automation techniques to enhance content creation and iteration speed.
• Guide and mentor the technical art team, fostering collaboration with engineers and artists to develop robust workflows.
• Work with co-development partners, ensuring technical standards are met and assets integrate seamlessly.

Qualifications

Exigences de base :

• Plus de 12 ans d'exprience dans l'industrie du jeu vido, avec un accent sur le dveloppement de jeux AAA en monde ouvert.

Basic Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience in the video game industry, with a focus on AAA open-world game development.
• Deep expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprint scripting, material/shader development, and performance optimization.
• Strong experience with procedural content generation using Houdini.
• Technical proficiency in real-time rendering, asset streaming, and large-scale world-building.
• Proven ability to develop and optimize asset pipelines, including tools for procedural generation, animation, and VFX.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical art teams in a collaborative production environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical constraints and artistic goals.

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience with photogrammetry workflows, high-fidelity asset pipelines, and advanced material/shader techniques.
• Expertise in pipeline automation and scripting (Python, C++, or similar) to improve content workflows.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience working in cross-disciplinary teams.
• Passion for pushing the boundaries of real-time graphics and large-scale environment creation.

• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the NBCU Montreal office a minimum of three days per week.
