The IT Manufacturing Solutions Engineering team is dedicated to identifying and deploying cutting-edge technologies across high-impact use cases within our factories, driving significant performance improvements. As a member of this team, you'll gain exposure to Tesla's most advanced programs-from Manufacturing and New Vehicles to the Optimus Bot. We play a critical role in turning the seemingly impossible into scalable, real-world solutions.
We are looking for a Controls and Network Integration Engineer to help us accelerate the pace of migration to the latest wireless communication technology on our AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots), EMS (Electrical Monorail System) fleet of mobile machines, globally. You will have a direct impact in the output of our factories (vehicle, energy, bot) by bringing mobile robotics system to robust, low latency, wireless communications. Must be a wizard in Wireshark, Proneta, Packet Capture and analysis. Must also have experience with TIA Portal and Ignition.

Responsibilities
  • Design, validate, and maintain end-to-end control system network topologies integrated with IT networks. Focus on optimizing automation systems for real-time control, robustness, and reliability
  • Utilize tools like Wireshark for deep packet inspection and analysis to identify and resolve 5G network issues impacting factory operations. Leverage platforms such as Splunk, SQL, and internal visibility tools to drive rapid root cause analysis and resolution
  • Lead multiple 5G integration projects, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams to meet critical deadlines while minimizing production downtime. Coordinate device sourcing and logistics for vendor integration, and actively participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and SOP (Start of Production)
  • Test and qualify new 5G and controls networking devices to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability in demanding factory environments
  • Contribute to the development of secure, scalable data pipelines from PLCs and industrial computers to in-house monitoring platforms, enabling real-time operational visibility
  • Partner closely with external vendors and internal operations teams to design and implement tailored 5G solutions that meet dynamic production requirements
  • Analyze system performance data and recommend enhancements to optimize 5G network functionality and increase factory efficiency


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) Compute Engineering (CE), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), or Mechatronics/Robotics or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • 3+ years of work experience
  • Advanced-level proficiency in network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark and Proneta. TIA Portal Topology
  • Strong understanding of one of the following protocols: TCP/IP, Profinet/Profisafe, EtherCAT
  • Advance knowledge of electrical diagrams and comfortable making redlines on ECAD schematics
  • Experience with Siemens TIA portal, OPC-UA and Ignition
  • Experience with databases, including SQL (e.g. MySQL, Microsoft SQL) and column-store database (e.g. Click House)
  • Experience with one scripting language like Python
  • Strong attention to details and diligent in regression and integration testing practices. Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders
