How you'll make an impact

This position directly supports the successful integration of new acquisitions with respect to the accounting and financial reporting. Work with the new merger partner to gain an understanding of their general ledger accounting processes. Prepare integration entries of the merger partner's month-end accounting functions into the accounting center. Communicate and educate the merger partner staff regarding the requirements of the applicable AJG policies and processes. This position is responsible for their delivery of accurate, timely and efficient work-product coupled with strong customer service.

Essential Functions:
  • Consolidate the financial results of all new acquisitions within the timeframes and compliance requirements of AJG policies and procedures.
    • Prepare opening Balance Sheet schedules and deliverables to establish acquired balances. Prepare mapping of agency management system trial balance to JDE accounts.
    • Complete the agency system month-end close processes for all acquisitions. Ensure all month-end agency system reports are obtained and reviewed.
    • Record and review month-end close journal entries posted in JD Edwards General Ledger in accordance with the closing deadlines.
    • Prepare and review all Balance Sheet account reconciliations including bank reconciliations and Due to/from or Cash Flow statements. Ensure reconciliations are prepared according to AJG Policies with timely resolution of reconciling items.
    • Maintain communication with acquisition partners, finance on month-end close deadlines and deliverables.
    • Prepare working capital true-up schedules and opening balance sheet adjustments as required per deal terms.
    • Prepare Fixed Asset templates and reconciliations to migrate to JDE FA system.
    • Partner with the Global SOX team and internal/external audits on acquisition testing.
    • Track finance policy integration compliance dates for acquisitions to ensure all tasks are completed within policy.
    • Coordinate the migration of month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for the new acquisition to the accounting center for converted branches.
  • Provide direct support including projects to the Accounting Center of Excellence.


Other Functions:
  • Contribute to a cooperative team environment in which cross functions are assumed as necessary in order to meet department deadlines and goals.
  • Provide training and mentorship to other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) and 5 years of related experience required.
  • Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices/principles and preparation of strategic recommendations to management.
  • Proficiency in Excel.

Preferred:
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of Financial Accounting experience or Public Accounting.
  • Commitment to performing all tasks in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley and AJG policies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft suite of products; Advanced level skills in Excel
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in various Insurance Agency Management Systems.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work independently with precise detail and follow-up reporting.
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Strong teamwork orientation: willingness to help larger team meet goals and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Ongoing ability and commitment to work additional hours as needed to meet individual, team and department goals including assistance to peer managers as needed.
  • Ability to be flexible with non-core hours when compliance deadlines and challenges dictate the need for urgent attention.
