Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled ITS/Smart Mobility Project Manager to manage complex projects within the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Smart Mobility space. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion, ensuring the achievement of project goals related to scope, schedule, and budget. This role will involve leading a team, mentoring junior staff, and managing client relationships while overseeing the technical execution of ITS design and systems engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of systems engineering documentation, including Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Specifications, Systems Engineering Management Plans, Test Plans, and related materials.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed design documents for the deployment of traffic control equipment, communication devices (e.g., fiber optics, wireless), CCTVs, DMS, and decision support systems.
• Manage and support projects related to ITS, Connected and Automated Vehicle operations, and traffic management systems, including planning studies and benefit-cost analysis.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and accounts receivable, and prepare invoices.
• Develop and manage project management plans, establish pricing, and define project scope.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and assist with marketing proposals.
• Lead and manage the team, setting expectations, providing feedback, and coaching to support team growth and development.
• Oversee project staff, ensuring the effective management of all technical resources.
• Coordinate the development of extra work order requests and contract task proposals.
• Collaborate with internal staff, section heads, and leadership on project-related activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with various ITS products, including sensors, electronic displays, and traffic control equipment.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program.
• Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a specialized discipline within ITS or Smart Mobility.
• Experience working with clients at various levels, including local, state, and federal entities.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and projects, including budget, schedule, and scope.
• Experience in systems engineering, design, and procurement of traffic management systems.
• Familiarity with standards such as MUTCD, NEMA, NTCIP, and SAE for V2X communications.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, etc.), project management tools (ProjectWise, Bluebeam), and scheduling software (Microsoft Project).

Preferred Experience:

• Project management and business development experience.
• Familiarity with traffic management software, including adaptive signal systems and freeway management systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-based software architectures and hybrid system deployment.
• Professional certifications such as PMP or INCOSE systems engineering.
• Active engagement with industry organizations (e.g., ITS America, ITE, ASCE).
