Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems Corporation is seeking a Senior Level Planner / Project Manager to join any of the following Texas offices: Austin, Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth.

This person will support transportation planning and program management work, providing direct support to state and municipal clients on the management and delivery of transportation-related projects. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to understand the application of planning and project management principals, is detail-oriented and organized, can support in administrative processes, and navigating technical subject matter related to transportation planning and engineering and/or environmental programs and projects.

A candidate for this position should have strong listening and communication skills with the ability to write materials that relay a clear message. Additionally, we are seeking someone eager to learn, be a team player and possessing a desire to grow in their career. The primary types of projects the candidate will be assigned include federal grant / MPO funding application, freight and rail planning, local government bond program support, preliminary engineering, traffic analysis, and leading tasks or projects involving transportation planning and environmental studies and/or pursuits.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

  • Operate independently under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Senior level staff as to the assigned tasks, budget for tasks, and general results expected.
  • Conduct research and prepares documentation ensuring quality, timeliness and considering budget.
  • Gather and analyze data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
  • Work as part of the team to prepare recommendations and alternatives.
  • Attend, participate, and document meetings often serving as the main presenter and/or on behalf of the client.
  • Ultimately responsible for project organization and document management with the support of technical staff.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience =
  • Knowledge of the GIS, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Suites (InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Knowledge of data analysis software
  • Knowledge of transportation planning strategies and programs
  • Experience in preliminary engineering for roadway projects
  • Experience and knowledge in modal (rail, port, etc.) and freight
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and studies
  • Knowledge of federal transportation grant program requirements
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:
  • Master's degree in planning or related field preferred
  • AICP or PE certifications preferred

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
