The AWS Startup team seeks a Tech Business Developer leader to drive strategic growth initiatives at the intersection of technology and venture capital. This position is a key part of the AWS Startup Investments team, which develops and manages purpose-built credit and cash programs to accelerate startup growth at critical stages. Our team optimizes credit offers, channels, eligibility criteria, and annual budgets while working closely with startup marketing, business development, and sales teams to enhance customer acquisition and retention.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in business development, finance, and marketing, complemented by technical knowledge in analytics, big data, machine learning, and generative AI. Direct startup experience and proven success in VC or pre-VC funding environments are essential qualifications for this role. We're looking for a leader who will shape the AI era by developing innovative promotional credit funding programs for AIML/Generative AI startups and use cases. The candidate must demonstrate a track record of launching successful, metrics-driven initiatives that advance customer engagement, sales effectiveness, and business development.
This position requires exceptional cross-organizational leadership skills, with proven ability to unite diverse teams around common objectives. The successful candidate will build strategic partnerships, influence key stakeholders, and drive measurable outcomes across the AWS startup ecosystem. By leveraging our broader network and combining unique expertise, you'll help scale the Investments team's impact and contributions to drive AWS's startup strategy forward.
Key job responsibilities
Manage AWS's startup AIML/Generative AI credit programs, ensuring credits are strategically invested in qualified customers to enable their success and drive business outcomes for AWS
Define and deliver high-impact, global programs by designing, implementing, communicating, measuring, and iterating on all aspects of the AIML/Generative AI offerings and eligibility process
Analyze credit issuance and usage patterns, forecast future needs, and optimize programs by coordinating cross-functionally with Startup Business Development, Sales, GTM & Strategy, Product/Engineering, Program Management Office (PMO), Marketing, and Finance
Improve cross-organizational alignment and create efficient mechanisms to accelerate progress toward common goals
Drive large, complex sales opportunities from ideation through vision building and scoping, all the way to closure and into delivery
A day in the life
Bachelor's degree, or 7+ years of professional or military experience
Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives, and cross-functional teams or equivalent
Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures or equivalent
Familiarity with startup ecosystems and ecosystem players
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
