Description:
Tundra Federal is seeking a Senior Network Architect to develop network infrastructure solutions for government customers. The ideal Senior Network Architect has demonstrated experience designing, architecting, and managing large scale network infrastructures, and they must be able to define project objectives, create implementation plans, coordinate resources, manage timelines, and mitigate risks throughout the implementation lifecycle. This position requires a deep understanding of network architectures to support USAF mission requirements (i.e., Zero Trust, SD-WAN, Micro-segmentation). The ideal candidate should be familiar with industry standards, protocols, and best practices related to these areas. Having a strong background in network architecture, security protocols, and infrastructure design is crucial for your success in this role.
Responsibilities
The Senior Network Architect should have experience in implementing secure network solutions, including firewalls, routers, VPNs, encryption, intrusion detection systems, and authentication mechanisms. Knowledge of cloud platforms and services is important, familiarity with cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is valuable. Should be well-versed in SD-WAN concepts, including traffic routing, load balancing, Quality of Service (QoS), and WAN optimization. Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles for authentication, authorization, and access control including designing and implementing IAM solutions, technologies like single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privilege management. The architect should be able to collaborate with stakeholders, present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and provide guidance to the implementation team. They should also be able to align business requirements with technical solutions.

- Lead technical architecture development for complex network solutions aligned with DoD and USAF security and operational requirements, including Zero Trust, SD-WAN, and micro-segmentation.
- Network Architecture Design: Lead the design and implementation of modern network infrastructures, integrating ZTA, SASE, SD-WAN, and other advanced technologies to create flexible, scalable, and secure network environments.
- AI/ML and Big Data Integration: Implement AI/ML strategies based on big data (e.g., SIEM data) to enhance network performance through predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and intelligent automation. Ensure that AI/ML is seamlessly integrated into network management for optimization and problem resolution.
- Digital Twin Integration: Leverage Digital Twin technologies to create real-time network simulations for monitoring, analysis, and optimization. Enable predictive maintenance, performance forecasting, and real-time adjustments based on simulated data insights.
- Security-First Design: Ensure all architectures are aligned with modern security principles, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). Implement AI-powered security systems to detect and mitigate potential threats in real time using Digital Twin simulations.
- Next-Generation Network Leadership: Stay ahead of emerging technologies, incorporating eBPF for enhanced observability, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) for optimized service delivery, and IoT management for handling device-rich environments.
- 10+ years of network/security implementation and/or management experience required.
- Proven Experience in designing and managing large-scale network infrastructures incorporating ZTA, SASE, SD-WAN, and Digital Twin technologies.
- Deep Understanding of cloud-native networking principles, including microservices, service meshes, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with edge computing, 5G integration, and distributed systems deployment.
- Advanced Security Expertise, including Zero Trust models and quantum-safe encryption for future-proofing network security.
- Experience in network performance analytics, big data integration, and utilizing SIEM tools for proactive threat detection and monitoring.
- Strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (e.g., Cameo, GNS-3, EVE-NG) for network design and optimization.
- Experience with NFV, IoT management, and designing network infrastructures that scale across diverse environments.
- Excellent Communication Skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, leadership, and clients, ensuring that complex networking concepts align with strategic business objectives.
- Strong understanding of network routing and switching protocols required.
- Demonstrated experience with WAN and backbone network protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.) required.
- Experience working with DoD customers and knowledge of DoD polices and processes.
