We manage relationships with numerous external partners who perform many of our routine tax functions. Overview of Your Role:
The Domestic Tax Analysis Group Senior Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for processes necessary to ensure GM's compliance with income tax compliance requirements and compilation of the quarterly U.S. income tax provision. This person will have responsibility for administering SOX compliance with respect to key financial accounting processes and the financial reporting of taxes.

The Domestic Tax Analysis Group Senior Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for processes necessary to ensure GM's compliance with income tax compliance requirements and compilation of the quarterly U.S. income tax provision. This person will have responsibility for administering SOX compliance with respect to key financial accounting processes and the financial reporting of taxes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision
- Leading the annual US R&D Credit process, including managing tax analysts with R&D Credit responsibilities
- Operating Sarbanes Oxley 404 tax controls and supporting related testing
- Assisting in timely and accurate filing of state and local income tax returns, including quarterly estimates
- Partnering with business units and other departments within Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and financial statement balances
- Providing support in the review and analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings
- Monitor changes to state tax laws and ensure timely incorporation of those changes to tax forecasting and reporting processes
- Building and updating tax planning and tax analytic models
- Assisting in the management of federal and state audits
- Working on special, cross-functional projects
- Managing federal consolidated return workflows and processes
- Managing 3rd party service providers for out-sourced projects
- Identifying and implementing process improvements

Additional Job Description
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of US tax accounting, compliance or related experience within a large public accounting firm or private industry
- Demonstrated experience and subject matter expertise in US R&D credit, federal and state income tax compliance and reporting
- The ability to prioritize assignments and manage workload within statutory and internal deadlines
- Well-developed computer and tax system skills. i.e., Experience with finance enterprise systems and tax provision / compliance systems (e.g., SAP, OneSource)
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality work, consistently strong performance, and high productivity
- Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
- Effective communication skills and simplification mindset
- The ability to analyze complex tax or process issues and deliver actionable recommendations
- The ability to manage process/projects with minimum supervision
Preferred:
- CPA and/or Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting; other advanced degree or training
- Demonstrated effective, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leverage software systems and tools to streamline and automate processes.
