Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

- In-depth knowledge of safety engineering principles, operations, and methods.
- Familiarity with Cal/OSHA Title 8 Regulations is a significant asset.
- Certifications such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are preferred.
- A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is strongly recommended.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills :
- Proven ability to explain complex safety issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
