Location: Chicago Youth Centers Headquarters at 218 S. Wabash, Ste 510

Schedule: 8:30a - 5:30p; Monday - Friday; schedule subject to change based on organizational needs

Purpose: The Senior Director of Development is responsible for overseeing and executing a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy, managing a team of development professionals, cultivating relationships with major donors, and ensuring the organization meets its revenue goals through strategic fundraising initiatives. This includes identifying new funding opportunities, developing and implementing donor stewardship plans, and collaborating with other departments to align fundraising efforts with the organization's overall mission.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Identify target donor segments, set revenue targets, and develop fundraising strategies across various channels (major gifts, grants, corporate giving, events).
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of all major fundraising campaigns, including two annual appeals, two large events, and several smaller donor cultivation events.
  • Monitor fundraising performance, analyze donor data, and provide regular reports to Executive Leadership and Board of Directors on progress towards fundraising goals; manage the Fundraising Committee of the Board.
  • In collaboration with the Development Department and President/CEO, create a work plan for managing the portfolio and major gifts program with specific timelines, goals, and outcomes; review the plan on a regular basis.
  • Carry a portfolio of individual major gift donors and prospects, prioritizing personalized outreach and stewardship activities to help to cultivate long-term relationships with CYC.
  • Partner with Board members to optimize annual appeal, event, and major gift solicitations. Provide reports and assistance to Board members as needed to effectively leverage and solicit their contacts.
  • Work with the Annual Giving and Database Coordinator to oversee and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of gift processing, data entry, and acknowledgments to support organizational strategy and translate fundraising goals into operations.
  • Provide direction for regular audits of data entry and reconcile fundraising reports with the finance department at regular intervals.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report fundraising data and key performance indicators to assess progress towards pipeline development goals.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 7+ years of progressive fundraising experience with demonstrated success in major gifts and foundation relationships, preferably within the educational or youth development sectors
  • Proven track record of building and executing successful fundraising strategies with a focus on pipeline development and major donor cultivation
  • Demonstrated ability to secure five and six-figure gifts from individual donors and foundations
  • Experience in creating and implementing systems for donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and execute long-term fundraising plans
  • Excellence in relationship building with high-net-worth individuals, foundation officers, and organizational leaders
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations
  • Ability to travel as needed for donor meetings and events
