Summary

The Department of Medicine - Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking an Associate Professor to serve as the Lung Transplant Medical Director for the Lung Transplant/Advanced Lung Disease unit at Baylor St. Luke's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

The Lung Transplant Medical Director plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Lung Transplant Program. They lead lung transplant pulmonologists to evaluate and treat lung transplant candidates and recipients. They are responsible for ensuring the transplant protocols are developed and adhered to, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they lead multidisciplinary meetings to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals. Their responsibilities also include promoting program growth through research, education, and strategic planning, and ensuring the program's continuous improvement and innovation.

Job Duties

This position will provide staffing for transplant/ALD patients in Baylor St. Luke's in the Texas Medical Center.

  • Provider will have direct patient care responsibilities for patients in the critical care unit(s).
  • Actively participate in daily and weekly multidisciplinary rounds, collaborating with teams including Pharmacy, Case Management, Infection Prevention, Respiratory Therapy, and other disciplines to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Perform and supervise procedure including but not limited to Bronchoscopy, thoracentensis, Chest tube placement.
  • Supervise and mentor residents (Internal Medicine) and fellows (Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine)
  • Provider will participate in quality care improvement initiatives.


The Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine section within the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is focused on patient care including transplant services at Baylor St. Luke's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education required: M.D.
  • Required: specialization in Lung Transplant/ALD
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and a track record of excellent clinical performance.
  • Scholarly enthusiasm
