Introduction

Brunel is seeking an Engineering Manager to provide engineering leadership in the planning, design, and execution phases of capital projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing design scope, engineering schedules, and budgets while integrating multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet project objectives on time and within budget.

What are you going to do

  • Ensure scope definition for the appropriate Stage Gate meets company standards before starting project work.
  • Approve Engineering Execution Plans (EEP) and contribute to Project Execution Plans (PEP), including scope development and change management processes.
  • Review and manage engineering budgets in alignment with project scope and execution strategies.
  • Oversee development of Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) for all deliverables and time-based functions.
  • Review engineering schedules and overall project schedules to meet timelines and guide manpower planning.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, and other corporate functions to align design inputs and reviews.
  • Review and appraise the engineering team structure to meet both short- and long-term project goals.
  • Ensure Engineering Systems and 3D intelligent design environments are properly established and utilized.
  • Direct and oversee engineering activities to ensure high quality of work aligned with company objectives.
  • Promote safety culture and apply corporate design-for-safety principles throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct engineering risk assessments and HAZOPs, addressing all identified issues.
  • Facilitate design reviews and milestone engineering checkpoints.
  • Coordinate quality audits to ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for value optimization across all project disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering disciplines on design scope, safety, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Freeport-McMoRan technical standards during project execution.
  • Support development of integrated engineering management methodologies across studies and execution phases.
  • Maintain clear and consistent reporting to Corporate Management on contracts and project status.
  • Develop and maintain a robust Project Engineering Management framework to support world-class project delivery.


Essential skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 8 years of experience.
  • Proven experience managing design engineering teams on large-scale capital projects.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of engineering systems, design processes, and project materials.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and engineering discipline criteria.
  • Advanced planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project planning, controls, and multi-disciplinary integration.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Leadership ability to motivate teams, transfer knowledge, and apply best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering problems and provide effective solutions.
