About the Job.

Why This Job is Important. As a Sr. Nonwovens Engineer, you will have a critical role within the Nice-Pak Research & Development division, leading product development efforts, and providing technical oversight for products in our private label and branded wet wipe portfolio. In this role, you will serve as the technical nonwoven R&D lead for project initiatives, advancing projects through the product development process and working cross-functionally with the R&D Team, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Procurement, Regulatory, Legal, and Operations teams to achieve the desired milestones and objectives. This position provides great opportunities to leverage existing experience while developing new technical skills and cultivates potential for career advancement in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging work environment.
About You.

What you can expect in this role:
  • Lead all technical aspects for assigned projects and advance them through the product development process, working cross-functionally with the R&D Team, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Procurement, Regulatory, Legal, and Operations
  • Lead research and development projects to innovate and improve nonwoven fabrics' performance, quality, and sustainability.
  • Design and optimize performance for nonwoven materials from spunbond, airlaid, meltblown, carded, and other related technologies to better suit consumer needs.
  • Work with internal and external partners to identify new nonwoven technologies and innovation opportunities that can be applied to Nice-Pak's portfolio for potential innovation and business growth opportunities
  • Conduct material and process analysis to enhance product specifications and meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operation, quality, regulatory, and marketing, to ensure the successful scale-up and implementation of new products and technologies.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements affecting nonwoven materials and products.
  • Prepare technical reports, patents, and presentations to share findings and innovations with internal teams, customer meetings and industrial conferences.
  • Develop, write, and validate new test methods to support new technology/benefit claims validation
  • Work closely with suppliers and customers to understand material requirements and to develop new materials that meet these needs.
  • Lead efforts to improve sustainability and environmental performance of nonwoven products and processes.
  • Supervise and develop any assigned direct reports, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project).
  • Understand the product development process from concept ideation through launch
  • Understand fibers/nonwoven materials and technologies
  • 5-8+ years of prior work experience in the development of new products for personal care and or surface cleaning applications; previous experience working with nonwovens/wipes is an advantage
  • Proven track record of developing and launching new products as part of a cross-functional team
  • Prior experience working on either OTC or EPA products is a plus
  • Proactive, results-oriented with good leadership skills and a drive for achievement
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and cross-functionally
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Ability to multi-task, with strong time management skills
  • Independent with a willingness to take on new challenges
  • Strong problem-solving and project-management skills

  • Strong intellectual curiosity - always looking for new ways to improve products or processes
  • Bachelors' Degree in Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or related, relevant scientific discipline; Master's degree or PhD degree is a plus

Where you will work:
  • In a laboratory and office environment with some travel to manufacturing facilities, vendors, and trade show events

The daily tasks in this position require viewing computer screens, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time in office and laboratory environments.

  • Excellent pay, commensurate with experience, with additional bonus opportunities. The pay range for the New Jersey/New York market is 90k - 120k based commensurate with experience.
