The Chester School District, SAU 82, is seeking a Business Administrator to oversee all finance and business operations of the school district. Serving approximately 500 students in pre-K through grade 8 and about 250 high school students attending Pinkerton Academy, the candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the district's educational mission by efficiently managing its financial resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- A New Hampshire Department of Education Business Administrator certification, a Business Administration certification through NHASBO or SBO certification through ASBO International, or eligibility for credentialing.
- Experience working in public education, including at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with district leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial and accounting policies and procedures that meet all federal, state, and GASB requirements; ensuring that all financial systems accurately record all financial transactions in detail.
- Oversee the accounting and payroll operations for the district.
- Prepare and manage the school district's annual budget, including establishing budgetary guidelines and processes, performing monthly revenue and expense projections analyzing operations and budget status, managing operations within the approved budget, and providing resolution to issues.
- Submit monthly reports to the school board detailing the status of the district's financial position and prepare financial reports, as required by GASB, NHED, NHDRA, USDA, and the USED.
- Supervise financial operations for Food Service and facilities management, ensuring budget compliance and operational efficiency.
- Manage the district's banking relationships in conjunction with the school treasurer, overseeing the collection, safeguarding, and distribution of funds.
- Oversee the district's purchasing operations, ensuring compliance with budget constraints, preparing bid specifications, and negotiating contracts.
- Manage the school's property, liability, health, dental, life, and disability insurance programs.
- Assist the Superintendent, Principal and Facilities Director in all aspects of school building and/or renovations projects.
