What to Expect

The Manager, Content Development is responsible to lead a blended team of instructional designers and technical writers responsible for designing engaging learning experiences across multiple departments and developing knowledge resources that empower our employees. This proactive leader will focus on aligning instructional design and knowledge management efforts into a seamless, user [1] centered experience and driving consistency, efficiency, and innovation across both disciplines while ensuring their integration supports business needs.

What You Will Do

1. Management Oversight:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of instructional designers and technical writers, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Ensure training and knowledge resources align, reducing redundancy and improving accessibility.
Streamline processes to enhance content creation efficiency, ensuring a seamless flow of information across learning and knowledge management platforms.
Advocate for the team's role in driving business success, effectively communicating value to key stakeholders.

2. Instructional Design & Knowledge Management Alignment
Oversee the development of engaging training programs, eLearning courses, and performance support tools that drive employee competency.
Ensure knowledge articles, guides, and reference materials are structured to support real-time learning and troubleshooting.
Implement best practices in adult learning, content structuring, and information design to optimize content effectiveness.
Drive consistency in content creation standards, tools, and methodologies across instructional design and knowledge resources.

3. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with key business leaders, subject matter experts, and frontline teams to identify training and knowledge needs.
Align learning solutions with operational goals, ensuring they drive performance improvements and reduce support escalations.
Collaborate with technology teams to enhance content delivery and accessibility through knowledge management (KMS) and/or learning management systems (LMS), knowledge bases, and digital platforms.

4. Process Improvement & Innovation
Continuously assess and refine content development workflows to improve efficiency and responsiveness.
Leverage analytics and feedback to measure the impact of instructional design and knowledge initiatives, driving data-driven enhancements. Stay ahead of industry trends in instructional design, knowledge management, and digital learning to innovate solutions that meet evolving business needs.

5. Lead, mentor, and develop team members by providing direction, performance feedback, and support to ensure effective collaboration, professional growth, and achievement of organizational and personal goals.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring
Minimum 5-7 years progressive related experience in content creation, instructional design or technical writing.
0-2 years supervisory experience or leading projects.
Experience leading teams in a corporate learning, knowledge management, or content strategy environment.
Background in user experience (UX) design, information architecture, or content strategy. Experience working with AI-driven knowledge management tools and adaptive learning technologies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
Certifications in instructional design (e.g., ATD, CPTD), knowledge management (e.g., CKM), or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile).
Expertise in instructional design methodologies, learning theories, and adult learning principles.
In-depth understanding of knowledge management best practices, including content governance and taxonomy development.
Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools, knowledge base software, and digital learning technologies.
Knowledge of analytics and measurement strategies for assessing training and knowledge content effectiveness.
Understanding of business operations, customer service, and employee training needs.
Familiarity with performance support tools and just-in-time learning strategies.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills to measure training and knowledge content effectiveness.
Proven ability to lead, coach and develop team members.
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Advanced communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address business challenges with effective learning and knowledge solutions.
Technical proficiency with LMS, knowledge management systems, and content development tools.
Ability to align instructional design and knowledge management strategies to support business goals.
Capacity to drive innovation and process improvements within a large portfolio of work.
Ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders and executive leadership.
Adaptability in managing change and evolving team structures to meet business needs.
Strong analytical mindset for interpreting data and making data-driven decisions.

Work Environment

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.

The posted salary range for this job takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
