Brief Overview of Position

The Compliance Risk Management function is in the Bank's 2LOD (second line of defense) and is responsible for ongoing monitoring and oversight of risks associated with the organization. The second line is independent from the first line to provide objectivity and credible challenge.

This department works directly with all business units to develop a strong and robust risk mitigation environment to aid in the growth processes to ensure adherence to policies. The VP Risk Assessment & Regulatory Change evaluates and ensures that an organization's operations and procedures meet compliance standards. The role reports to the Director of Risk Assessment and is part of the Corporate Compliance department.

Responsibilities
  • This job works collaboratively to support of all risk and compliance assessment activities of Texas Capital across a broad range of frameworks.
  • Partner with the organizational risk and business partners, the technology organization, and frontline teams to meet the mission requirements in a manner consistent with the enterprise risk appetite.
  • Perform timely and accurately assigned activities including such items as annual risk assessments, third-party risk assessment, new product risk assessment, Risk and Control Self-Assessment and credible challenge, Issue Management oversight, and regulatory change management and inventory.
  • Act as both trusted risk partner and credible 2LOD risk independent challenge professional to support our businesses.
  • Maintain and contribute to the data integrity for core risk reference data, such as regulatory inventory. regulatory applicability, critical corporate obligations, business hierarchy, products and services inventory, business processes inventory, risk taxonomy, control taxonomy, and other risk drivers such as third parties and technology applications.
  • Review and provide independent challenge to 1LOD (first line of defense) risk assessments and other materials
  • Participate in the review and challenge of Compliance and 1LOD policies and programs.
  • Assist with communicating and escalating (as appropriate) relevant issues and scope information across business lines as appropriate.
  • Interact with auditors, examiners, regulators, or law enforcement as necessary.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Analytics, Computer Science); or equivalent combination of education, training, experience
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in financial services (large bank experience a plus) or a related field is required and a minimum 7 years in 2LOD Compliance risk management preferred
  • Expert ability to analyze risk concentration areas, risk profiles, and risk data to comprehensively assess risk
  • Deep knowledge of banking and complex banking products (including consumer, deposit, treasury, lending, mortgage, broker-dealer, registered investment advisors, ETFs, and others).
  • Strong technical proficiency in the use of MS Office products for reporting, data analytics, and presentations
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively identifying and escalating potential risks and issues
  • Advanced understanding of risks, controls, processes (and workflows) and change management
  • Advanced ability to interact, negotiate and influence at all levels throughout the organization
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • CRCM preferred
  • Experience with RSA-Archer GRC is a plus
  • Specific knowledge of risk management frameworks and corporate governance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust within the organization
  • Ability to self-direct and manage competing priorities on concurrent large, complex projects, initiatives and deliverables with strong attention to detail in a deadline-focused environment
  • Bias for action and low tolerance for errors
