Job Summary

The Director of Development is a key member of the leadership team responsible for driving revenue growth through grant acquisition, fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and partnership development. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in leading and securing high-value grants (county, state, and federal), managing complex funding portfolios, and making strategic decisions on funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write, revise, and maintain agency-specific content for proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and organizational voice.
  • Review and edit RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs to ensure compliance with all submission requirements.
  • Ensure all proposals are comprehensive, responsive, and supported by relevant data and documentation.
  • Manage timelines, production, and delivery of multiple, time-sensitive proposals, including participation in planning meetings and debriefs.
  • Oversee the final formatting, packaging, and submission of grant applications and proposals.
  • Represent the organization at relevant county, state, and federal meetings as required.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and partners to collect and organize proposal-related documents.
  • Maintain an up-to-date grant database and alert key personnel to upcoming renewals and reporting deadlines.
  • Monitor funding websites and contact networks for newly released RFPs and grant opportunities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures to support streamlined operations.
  • Supervise agency-related social media activities related to grants and public engagement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the department's success.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Grants Department, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Proactively research and identify funding opportunities, grants, and projects; develop supporting materials including pre-proposal papers and presentations.
  • Lead the recruitment, assignment, and supervision of grant writers and subject matter experts as needed to support proposal development.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders-including Vice Presidents, Department Directors, and Grants staff-to gather essential content and data for grant submissions.
  • Coordinate and organize team input to produce high-quality, competitive grant and proposal packages.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS in English, Communications, or a closely related subject preferred.
  • Cultural Competency understanding required.
  • Bilingual preferred.
