Zurich North America is currently hiring a Portfolio Governance Director to work for its team out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Manages staff, providing appropriate training, coaching, and development. Responsible for performance and talent management.
  • Oversees all project governance from original concept through final implementation and close-out.
  • Facilitates team processes and provides methodologies, tools, and training to support the projects and institutionalize the processes. Develops a culture with a bias for learning, improvement, and action.
  • Partners with global, regional, or local (ZNA) teams on governance processes and artifact development.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and institutionalization of best practices around project delivery.
  • Ensures governance performance metrics and measures team progress and identifies further opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with partners across the business.
  • Manages the development of communication and business cases across the organization.
  • Demonstrates an ability to create a 'win/win' solution through leadership, influence, facilitation, and teamwork.
  • Establishes governance direction, defines key results, develops plans, establishes goals, and identifies critical success factors.
  • Communicates to key stakeholders regarding project updates and issues and manages escalation appropriately.
  • Eliminates roadblocks, resolves issues, and aligns people and the organization in the overall effort.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Business In Insurance, Operations Training and/or Change Management area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Business In Insurance, Operations Training and/or Change Management area
    AND
  • 3 or more years managing a team of people
  • Enterprise-wide project management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust message to varying levels of audience (entry-level to senior leaders)
  • 3 or more years of people development experience
  • Project Management Institute Project Management Professional Certification
  • Works well managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines


At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed {hourly rate or salary range} for this position is $143,000.00 - $234,3000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
