Responsible for the overall performance and operations of the bulk facilities. Leads location managers to ensure financial success, high levels of service and safety. Achieves sales and growth, and expands market opportunities in the assigned areas. Responsible for creating operational focus, integrity, and control strategies within and between Bulk Plant operations.

Responsible for creating operational focus, integrity, and control strategies within and between Bulk Plant operations.
Essential Duties Include:
- Oversee the operations of the bulk plant branches.
- Directly manage, guide, and develop all Bulk Plant Managers.
- Act as functional liaison for operational activities between sales and all operational support departments.
- Monitor price risk exposure across all Bulk Plant locations and advise location managers on contract positions.
- Assist in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, and operational projects within Bulk Plant operations.
- Work with managers to grow the company through the development and implementation of effective customer relations and innovative marketing strategies in all services and products.
- Utilizes frequent interface with customers to understand their needs to ensure customer satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.
- Leads safety and worker's compensation cost reduction initiatives, focusing on safety as a primary concern and ensuring safe working practices in all areas of operations.
- Partners with finance to develop the annual budget, manages financial performance, and provides input for long-range financial planning to assure that the necessary resources are available to achieve sales and operational objectives. Analyze and report on operating and sales results and trends, and contributes to monthly/quarterly financial and operating meetings on performance.
- Participates in a goal setting for direct reports, utilizing objective techniques and self-measurement relative to performance, and performs periodic review of accomplishments and activities toward the established objectives.
Nature and Scope:
- The Director of Operations is responsible for profit plan attainment through day-to-day operations including product procurement, sales, safety and support functions.
- The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. Of equal importance is the ability to focus on customer needs and ordering trends to identify their impact on service delivery capabilities.
- This position requires an in-depth knowledge of refined fuel, propane, oil and transportation and an in-depth understanding of all services and products, including a thorough knowledge of hazmat and related handling methods.
- The position requires strong business management capabilities and financial management skills. The incumbent must be able to understand, analyze and assess the impact of key financial reports. This position also requires the ability to identify reporting needs and develop other analytical and financial measurement tools as necessary to guide the area in planning and operations management.
- Manager must make decisions independently on most operational issues, but will often consult with President/Vice President on matters such as appropriate bids and gross profit, sales development, revenue generation and equipment needs.
- This position has authority for hiring, firing, discipline and writing performance appraisals, and is responsible for maintaining and developing staff within corporate and region guidelines.
Requirements:
- 5 years managing staff and operations required.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong client interface and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
- Initiative and ability to work in a self-directed manner.
- Ability to multi-task; able to effectively handle multiple priorities and responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record required.

- May be required to lift and/or pull up to 50 pounds and must be physically capable of performing manual tasks without restrictions.
- Occasional standing and walking required throughout the day and in inclement weather and difficult terrain.

- Computer-related activities, such as typing and viewing a computer monitor are required.
- Required to drive/ travel to Bulk Plant facilities and customer locations.
