Core Responsibilities and Accountability

As the Hydronics/HVAC/Pumps Product Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the growth and development of the Class within IMS. Under the management of the Head of Sourcing, the duties, and responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Functional Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with identifying and interpreting products encompassed in what IMS refers to as Hydronics, HVAC, and Pumps; sold and quoted by Independent Mechanical Supply
  • Develop relationships with vendors that will create favourable business conditions (greater margin and accurate delivery dates) for IMS
  • Maintain and organize:
  • Managing product data and accurate cross referencing across all Hydronics, HVAC, and Pumps brands
  • Work in conjunction with Sales & Operations to review and maintain all Min/Max's inventory levels for all branch locations.
  • Regularly contact vendors to ensure system pricing is accurate and within market pricing.
  • Understanding rebate program details ensuring the details can be accessed when required for reporting and decisions.
  • Ensure inventory stays fresh, working with vendors to exchange, refresh slow moving product annually.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly & yearly line reviews (as required) to ensure rebate maximization and a continued source of supply within the category.
  • Work closely with vendors in a fair and open way to position IMS as a preferred partner (with better than normal margins, preferential delivery dates, sharing of leads) within their strategy
  • Participate in vendor contract and rebate negotiations as required.
  • Continually explore new opportunities within the class and collaborate with the Head of Sourcing on developing a business case regarding on the mix of products being offered and inventoried (encompassing the Return on Investment (ROI) for the Company)
  • Provide support to the Head of Pricing (through analytics & market research), sell prices/margins on Hydronics, HVAC, and Pumps products for individual customers and/or groups of customers.
  • Work with Sales, Procurement, and Data teams on adding new products and vendors and to develop relationships with customers that positions IMS as their first choice for purchasing all PVP products.
  • Work with IMS Business Analysts to develop/modify reporting tools to achieve the highest ROI for the company
  • Provide technical support and work cooperatively with the Inside/Outside Sales, and Project teams for all IMS locations.
  • Organize relevant training for the products within the Hydronics, HVAC and Pumps segment. Vendors, IMS Staff and Customers
  • Participate in site or shop visits with customers and or sales representatives to assess project needs considering both the technical aspects of the situation and the customers past experiences and viewpoint.
  • Collaboratively develop marketing and promotional materials with the Sales Managers and Head or Marketing.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience with and superior knowledge of the Hydronics, HVAC, and Pumps wholesale product segment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment.
  • Experience suggesting and implementing changes to processes and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Established history of demonstrating the ability to pay attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership & presentation skills.
  • A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Query/Power BI, Pivot Tables and Internet Information Gathering/Research
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning and team building skills.
