We are currently seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the on-site management of the Ladore Dam project in Campbell River, BC. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing all activities within the construction scope to ensure safety, cost control, supervision, scheduling, quality assurance, client communication, and reporting meet the requirements for a successful handover to the Commissioning Phase.

Other responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

  • Manage the project establishment, site mobilization and demobilization activities
  • Hold contractors accountable to HSE, cost and schedule performance to ensure
  • alignment with objectives established upon contract award
  • Control channels of communication and information flow internally and externally
  • Coordinate and communicate the construction performance requirements to ensure project objectives are met
  • Participate in internal and client construction meetings
  • Identify site resources required for the effective completion of the construction phase
  • Manage and lead the construction team effectively, and all disciplines of work
  • Coordinate and carry out incident investigations as required
  • Manage and attend toolbox talks, risk assessments and daily toolbox meetings
  • Manage and coordinate the sub-contractors' program, progress and productivity
  • to ensue planned completion date is met
  • Manage, review, and improve productivity of workforce, create safe and efficient
  • behaviors and a high-performance culture
  • Identify and manage the head and sub-contracts for compliance and ensure the
  • Project Manager is kept informed of any issues
  • Identify and manage change to the Head Contract and sub-contracts from a
  • construction perspective
  • Carry out inspection of construction works to achieve the quality identified in
  • project criteria, standards and specifications
  • Manage the receipt and acceptance of all deliveries and manage the laydown
  • areas to handover to subcontractors as required
  • Manage and Sign-off on test sheets and construction ITP's where applicable
  • Coordinate resolution of technical issues and Requests for Information that arise during construction
  • Manage and coordinate all accommodation, travel and messing issues for construction staff
  • Produce reports for distribution internally and to the client for construction progress and close out
  • Manage the gathering of information and drawing mark-ups for the timely issue of "as-built" information with the Project Engineer
  • Manage the development and clearance of punch lists including repairs and modifications
  • Participate in the formal handover for Commissioning
  • Co-ordinate activities with the Commissioning Manager as required.

Requirements
  • Civil construction and/or Mechanical background
  • 10 year plus Civil work, Steel Structure and Electrical, experience related to Hydro Power Facilities will be an asset.
  • Good verbal communication and attitude with teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret standards, drawings, and technical documents
  • Able to spend large parts of the day in the field walking across various terrains in varying weather conditions (winter and summer)
  • Able to keep detailed notes and possesses strong organization and document control skills
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and manage workload
  • Knowledge and experience with site safety procedures
  • Existing field experience on civil related projects considered an asset
  • Proven experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Project, Excel)
  • Experience with Microsoft, SharePoint and Teams
