JOB DESCRIPTION

Outpatient Services is seeking a Registered Nurse, reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program (OSP). This position will provide central intake services and will assess and triage all referrals received for the OSP.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for the coordination of referrals including: triaging of all referrals received to the program; communication with referral sources to ensure complete and appropriate information is received; communicate with the individuals referred to complete information required and provide support and navigation to those referred. Triage support will may be provided both in person and via the telephone. This position will also provide information and system navigation to individuals, families and other care providers.

Requirements:

  • A current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, (BSc N preferred)
  • Registered with the RNAO in good standing is preferred

CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the CNO is required
Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing
Current CPR-HCP is required.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy knowledge required.
Comfort in utilizing clinical measurement tools.
5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service.
3 years' experience in working in crisis nurse role.
Sound knowledge of community resources in mental health and addiction.
Ability to make effective referrals, reflecting in depth knowledge of community resources within the OSP Catchment area and strong collaborative skills in working with community partners and health care providers.
Thorough knowledge and ability to administer mental status examinations, psychosocial and crisis assessments.
Demonstrated knowledge of the College Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
Ability to work effectively individually as well as part of an interprofessional team.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of psychotropic medication.
Proven ability to exercise mature, effective judgment and behaviour in emergency situations.
