The Position
The position of Senior Mental Health Worker (CARE) will provide outreach and engagement services to members of the Napa community who struggle with untreated serious mental health disorders such as Schizophrenia and other Psychotic Disorders or are in limited treatment and struggling to adequately meet their needs safely in the community. The Senior Mental Health Worker will work closely within a team to identify, outreach and encourage community members toward stabilizing treatment in a safe, supportive manner. Once in treatment, the Senior Mental Health Worker will provide regular support related to appointments, life management needs, life skills and symptom management skills. The Senior Mental Health Worker, within the CARE Act services team, is an integral part of each participant's success and ability to thrive more independently in the community following treatment.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy in the Health and Human Services Department. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year. Being bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Salary increases and Winter Time Off (WTO)
POSITION REQUIREMENT
Experience and Education
To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
Experience:
Two years of counseling experience in a mental health program including at least one year of case management.
Education:
Equivalent to completion of four years of college with major course work in psychology, sociology, or closely related field. (Additional qualifying experience can substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis).
License or Certificate:
**Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. Possession of a valid California driver's license may be required for some assignments.
Special Qualifications:
A person employed in this class must be willing to work irregular hours and holidays and weekends as needed.
This position may require a large amount of driving, including visiting clients placed in other counties.
THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS
