Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Strategy and Analytics is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing corporate strategic planning, data and analytics, and technology to drive multifaceted problem-solving and research in support of the business operations of the Baltimore Orioles and our Regional Sports Network (MASN). The primary focus of this position is to serve as a strategic partner to the President, Business Operations and business unit leaders across various departments in order to drive operational efficiencies, optimize revenue, and achieve strategic plan objectives. This executive should be hyper-focused on driving innovation, elevating the fan experience, and delivering financial results.

We seek a scrappy player-coach that enjoys rolling up the sleeves and doing the gritty tactical work of building a high-performing department from the ground up, including hiring great people, establishing new processes, acquiring and implementing best-in-class technology, and more.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the President, Business Operations in developing and executing enterprise-level and departmental strategic plans.
  • Guide senior leadership in refining strategic priorities and evaluating business opportunities.
  • Translate high-level strategic plans into actionable projects with comprehensive timelines and budgets.
  • Collaborate with department heads to establish Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) aligned with the overall strategic goals, while prioritizing work streams and objectives.
  • Monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives against OKRs, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Identify risks to the execution of strategic initiatives and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support the President, Business Operations in the creation of regular OKR updates to share with the full staff including collaborating with Ballpark Operations (BPO) in preparing After Action Reports following each homestand and adding BPO to cross-functional working groups accordingly.
  • Build reports and materials to present to ownership. Prepare the President, Business operations for key meetings with owners and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and determine make versus buy decisions regarding data availability/reporting and vendor assessment and management.
  • Manage special projects aligned with strategic priorities.

Operational Efficiencies & Revenue Generation:
  • Support Ticketing department through data collection, aggregation, customer segmentation, and lead scoring. Own the day-to-day management of the CRM.
  • Collaborate with Ticketing on pricing, inventory, and reporting for all ticket products including season tickets, partial plans, single game tickets, group sales, premium areas, and the role of the secondary market.
  • Establish processes and platforms that promote the dissemination, usage and adoption of analytics and research insights across the organization.
  • Analyze primary and secondary market sales transactions for use with dynamic pricing and inventory management.
  • Assist with the creation and dissemination of ticket sales forecasts.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Ballpark Operations to determine the best staffing structures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Corporate Partnerships, Finance, Ticketing, and Marketing to build and maintain reports and dashboards.
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team in building rate cards (pricing models) for traditional assets (signage, LEDS, social, IP, etc.) and emerging assets (real estate development projects), as well as building robust Sponsor reports.
  • Partner with Baseball Operations to identify opportunities for synergies and mutual support.
  • Manage qualitative research projects focused on improving the customer experience and generating new sales leads.
  • Search for patterns amongst data to identify trends, and opportunities for revenue generation, process improvements, and fan experience improvements.
  • Identify and champion new analytics and research opportunities that improve the quality and effectiveness of reporting and insights throughout the organization.

Technology:
  • Accountable for all aspects of IT and Technology infrastructure across ballpark (control rooms, IPTV, video boards, POS) and business operations (data warehousing, information security, ticketing, marketing, HR, analytics, etc.).
  • Build and shepherd the three-year strategic technology roadmap.
  • Procure, contract, and manage relationships with 3rd party vendors that assist with data warehouse management, data privacy, CRM administration, ticket pricing, marketing automation tools, etc. Establish policies and procedures that guide our use of technology vendors.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and technologies and implementing those that will improve business operations (i.e. Artificial Intelligence for sales enablement) or fan experience (frictionless commerce, mobile ordering, personalized offers, custom experiences, etc.)

Leadership:
  • Partner with the President, Business Operations to plan, develop, implement, lead, and evaluate both long term strategic direction and short-term business plans across Strategy/Analytics and Technology.
  • Work closely with each department leader to understand the needs of their business and ensure they have the tools, resources, and data needed to achieve the overarching business objectives.
  • Manage financial resources and budgets to align with business needs and expectations, including resource and staffing efficiencies.
  • Build, develop, inspire, and hold accountable a best-in-class team that embodies our core values of excellence, continuous innovation, collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, accountability, and passion.


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in senior strategy, analytics, and/or technology roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering or other quantitative field; Graduate/advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience in management consulting, private equity, or investment banking, preferred.
  • Track record of partnering with senior leadership in developing strategic plans, evaluating and prioritizing business opportunities, and making recommendations for investment.
  • Ability to translate high-level strategic plans into actionable projects and OKRs with comprehensive timelines, budgets, and reporting.
  • Track record of building a technology roadmap that prioritizes operational efficiencies, revenue optimization and fan experience, preferred.
  • High proficiency with Excel, including the ability to build complex spreadsheet models and run pivots, macros, v-lookups, and other advanced functions.
  • Experience creating robust reporting dashboards or other similar data visualization tools.
  • Track record of driving revenue through sophisticated data collection, customer segmentation, lead scoring, inventory management, and ticket pricing.
  • The ability to work independently and in a collaborative work environment is required, along with strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and planning skills.
  • A role model that leads by example, and maintains a positive, open, friendly and respectful attitude, with high ethical standards, and an appropriate professional demeanour.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to and collaborate with people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, independent, creative, ambitious, innovative, results oriented.
  • Experience helping oversee major capital projects (stadium renovation, AV upgrades, mixed-use development etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours to accommodate the baseball home-game schedule (attendance may be required at many, but not all, games).

The anticipated salary for this role is $300,000-$350,000 annually plus bonus eligibility depending on experience.
