The Corrosion Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing corrosion control programs for natural gas pipeline systems to ensure regulatory compliance, pipeline integrity, and operational safety. This role involves overseeing cathodic protection systems, internal corrosion monitoring, coating programs, and integrity assessments while collaborating with engineering, operations, and compliance teams.

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Corrosion Manager located in Houston, Texas.
General Description:
The Corrosion Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing corrosion control programs for natural gas pipeline systems to ensure regulatory compliance, pipeline integrity, and operational safety. This role involves overseeing cathodic protection systems, internal corrosion monitoring, coating programs, and integrity assessments while collaborating with engineering, operations, and compliance teams.
Responsibilities:
Corrosion Prevention & Mitigation:
- Develop and manage corrosion control strategies, including cathodic protection (CP), internal corrosion monitoring, and pipeline coatings.
- Ensure proper installation, maintenance, and operation of CP systems, rectifiers, anodes, and test stations.
- Oversee inline inspection (ILI) and pigging programs to monitor and mitigate internal corrosion risks.
- Analyze corrosion data and implement corrective actions to mitigate pipeline degradation.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with 49 CFR Part 192 and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain corrosion-related records, including CP surveys, ILI reports, and mitigation activities.
- Work with regulatory agencies (PHMSA, state pipeline authorities) to ensure audit readiness and compliance reporting.
Pipeline Integrity & Risk Management:
- Support pipeline integrity programs (Integrity Management Plans - IMPs) by evaluating corrosion threats and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with integrity engineers to assess corrosion-related anomalies and develop remediation plans.
- Perform Direct Assessment (ECDA, ICDA, SCCDA) and recommend appropriate action based on findings.
Leadership & Team Coordination:
- Supervise corrosion technicians, specialists, and third-party contractors performing field inspections and mitigation efforts.
- Provide training and technical support to field personnel on corrosion control best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate corrosion control measures into broader pipeline operations.
Technology & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate and implement new corrosion prevention technologies, materials, and inspection tools.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and optimizing corrosion control practices.
- Work with vendors and industry groups to stay updated on advancements in corrosion control.
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Bachelor's degree in Corrosion Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- NACE/AMPP CP Level 3 or higher certification required (CP4 preferred).
- API 571, NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist, or related certifications preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in corrosion management, preferably in natural gas pipelines or midstream operations.
- Strong knowledge of cathodic protection, coatings, inline inspections (ILI), and direct assessment methods.
- Familiarity with 49 CFR Part 192, PHMSA regulations, and industry standards (NACE/AMPP, ASME B31.8, API 1160, etc.).
- Experience managing teams and coordinating with regulatory agencies.
Skills:
- Proficient written and verbal communicatin and interpersonal skills.
- Proven analytical and judgment skills, and detail oriented.
- Strong analytical skills to assess corrosion threats and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in corrosion modeling software, CP design tools, and GIS mapping systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet compliance deadlines.
