The Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for the dissemination of financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders within the Company. Located in Nisku (Edmonton), Alberta, this role involves aggregating and summarizing financial results for all divisions, compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and completion of annual budgets and monthly forecast updates.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the CFO and other members of the executive team to complete these tasks to monitor the overall financial and operational health of the Company.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting efficiently and effectively.
- Work with all teams throughout the Company to prepare meaningful qualitative and quantitative insights explaining financial results, including variance analysis.
- Support the CFO in completing presentations for the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
- Compile the annual financial statements, ensuring their adherence to ASPE and addressing any auditor queries.
- Compute recurring sales commissions and KPI bonuses.
Cash Flow and Bank Reporting
- Prepare the month-end bank reporting and ratio calculations, along with any ad-hoc reporting lenders and owners may request.
- Complete 13-week cash flow statements on a weekly basis for discussion with the CFO and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and finance team on cash receipt and distribution expectations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Manage the annual budgeting process, collaborating with all teams across the Company to ensure the appropriate allocation of capital within the Company to achieve and exceed annual targets.
- Update financial models for monthly and quarterly forecasting.
- Investigate material discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs.
- Work with management and other teams to provide insights and recommendations based on investigations completed.
- Support the finance team in production and absorption costing assumptions.
- Evaluate the ROI of various capex and business plans as required.
Income and Cross-Border Tax Coordination:
- Primary liaison with the Company's third-party Canadian and US tax accountants.
- Accumulate and prepare necessary schedules for tax accountants to complete annual tax filings in various country, provincial, and state jurisdictions and ensure on-time filing and payments.
- Work with third-party consultants on preparing international transfer pricing strategy and any other tax-related project as required.
- Candidate will also be required to support internal inter-divisional transaction margin analysis.
ERP Improvement and Reporting Automation:
- Work with a cross-functional team to upgrade the Company's ERP with an emphasis on data-to-information conversions and storage.
- Assess, advise, and recommend opportunities to automate the financial reporting processes within the Company and improve access to information.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation with a focus on financial reporting is a requirement. Those without a CPA designation, including those currently in CPA PEP, will not be considered for this role.
- Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting, either in a similar role or time spent articling with a public accountant.
- A strong understanding of ASPE.
- Baseline understanding of Canadian and US income tax filing requirements.
- Experience with an ERP or other advanced accounting system. Microsoft AX or Dynamics experience will be considered an asset.
- Experience with ERP reporting tools such as Jet Reports, Power BI, or similar forecasting tools such as Vena or Datarails considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- Position will be located at the Company's Nisku location.
- This is an in-office position with some flexibility to work from home for appointments and/or inclement weather.
