Senior Full Stack Engineer
Apply NowCompany: Rockstar
Location: New York, NY 10025
Description:
Rockstar is recruiting for a mission-driven healthcare company dedicated to improving the lives of autistic and neurodivergent adults. This client is committed to transforming healthcare outcomes by providing specialized, virtual mental health services covered by insurance. Their innovative approach includes autism assessments and individualized therapy, fostering a sense of community and belonging for their clients.
The company is on a mission to make life happier and healthier for autistic and neurodivergent adults. Despite rapid growth in known autism prevalence (up >5x in the last 25 years), autistic adults have been ignored by the healthcare system, leading to extremely poor outcomes across mental and physical health. This company is changing this by providing specialized, virtual mental health services for autistic adults, covered by insurance. Their innovative autism assessment diagnoses many clients for the first time in their lives. They pair that with individualized therapy that is tailored to the needs of autistic adults, and community to help clients find belonging and remain engaged.
In just 18 months since founding, they have grown to double digit millions of run-rate revenue, thousands of active clients, and 150 clinicians on their team. They have done this all with a lean, ambitious team, and recently raised a Series A from leading investors and healthcare operators.
Their ambition is bold: to reach and transform the lives of millions of autistic and neurodivergent adults.
The Role
As the fourth member of the engineering team, the work will serve as the foundation for the telehealth platform for years to come. The role involves writing Typescript across the stack, using best-in-class healthcare APIs, tackling messy healthcare problems, and driving product direction. The candidate will work closely with the Head of Engineering, the world-class engineering team, the rest of the founding team, clinical providers, and clients.
What types of things the candidate will work on:
- Clinician tooling - provide the tech stack so that clinicians can deliver best-in-class care that is driven by data and metrics.
- AI appointment transcript analysis - improve client care and automatically follow up on pressing issues.
- Easy client intake - the client experience should be seamless, and clients should only talk to a human if they want to.
- Automatic cost estimates for clients - they believe in pricing transparency and hate surprise bills.
- Iterating on the CI/CD pipeline, observability tools, and creating a delightful developer experience - they'll continue to invest in best-in-class tools for productivity and product's reliability.
Their tech stack:
- Typescript monorepo
- Node.js / Fastify
- React (and eventually React Native + Expo)
- Supabase for Postgres, auth, and storage
- tRPC for their typesafe API
- Prisma for their ORM
About You
- Experience building successful software, independently or as a part of a small team / early-stage startup
- Excited by an early stage environment and being one of the first engineering employees
- Scrappy, self-directed, detail oriented, and with strong communication skills
- In-person 2-5 days per week in their Chelsea (NYC) office preferred but open to virtual for the right candidate
- 3+ years of experience, ideally with some experience at a startup
The Team
They are building a world class team of thoughtful, action-oriented problem-solvers, and pairing them with subject-matter experts from their field (e.g., clinicians, autistic self-advocates). Their operations team is concentrated in New York but spread across the country, and consists of members from places such as Bain, McKinsey, BCG, FirstHand Health, SeatGeek, Harvard, Northwestern, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, Yale, Penn, and more.
The Culture:
- Clients first - when making decisions, they optimize for their clients; they stay extremely close to their community so they know their needs better than anyone
- Honesty and transparency - startups run into trouble when they delude themselves from reality; they are honest with themselves and with each other in pursuit of their mission
- Desire to win - their work is hard, and they want people that are excited by conquering great challenges
- Enjoy the journey - have fun with each other and enjoy the day to day moments
- Growth mindset - they will not get everything right the first time, but they seek feedback, they iterate, and they improve
- Bias for action - they move quickly, decisively and drive results
