As a REIT Accounting Manager, you will oversee all accounting processes and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting, while also managing staff and working closely with the transactions team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Manage month-end close process, including the preparation of financial statements and analysis of financial results.
  • Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead a team of accountants responsible for the REIT close and third-party data review.
  • Perform timely detail review of workpapers and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare workpapers and post journal entries for certain higher risk and technical areas.
  • Assist in the review of financial data coming from third party operators.
  • Serve as liaison to various organization interdisciplinary teams, including other accounting teams, reporting, treasury and Legal
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and related schedules and required disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Monitor and enhance existing documentation of financial reporting processes and internal controls
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly variance analysis and quarterly reporting packages.
  • Reviews debt compliance and projected cash flows.
  • Manage internal and external audit requests on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of board, investor relations and investment committee materials.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as needed
  • Independently manage and determine priority of outstanding tasks and research requests


"I am the person Ensign is looking for."

  • 5+ years of accounting experience including public accounting experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, powerpoint, Outlook. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including complex formulas, pivot tables, and building files from scratch.
  • Experience with Yardi, Workday OneStream, and/or Workiva is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret information such as online research, instructions, contracts, and procedure manuals and recommend appropriate treatments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to effectively listening, verbal, and written communication skills to communicate with internal partners and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to reprioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
