Be a key driver in achieving Amazon's Climate Pledge goals by transforming real estate strategies and operations across our global fulfillment network. As a Senior Carbon Modelling Lead within the Global Realty Sustainability & Renewable Energy team, you will lead cross-functional initiatives to integrate advanced sustainability solutions into Amazon's Worldwide Operations (WWOps) real estate portfolio. Your expertise in carbon modeling, whole-life carbon accounting, and sustainable building design will set new industry benchmarks, aligning Amazon's facilities with net-zero ambitions.

Collaborating with up to 30 stakeholder groups, including technical, engineering, and operational teams, you will embed strategic sustainability goals into global real estate standards. Through data-driven decision-making and innovative program management, you will develop impactful mechanisms to deliver high-quality results, optimize carbon reduction, and create tangible environmental and organizational value. Key job responsibilities
\tEstablish and manage corporate-level carbon reduction targets specific to the real estate portfolio, aligning them with Amazon's overarching sustainability goals.
\tDefine and lead the development of technical models for energy, carbon, and cost, working with third-party vendors and internal teams.
\tLead the development of whole-life carbon assessment models to evaluate the carbon impact of buildings across their lifecycle, from material extraction to demolition and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to refine methodologies, ensuring alignment with global standards and best practices.
\tImplement carbon risk evaluation approaches (e.g., CREEM, GRESB) to identify and evaluate financial, operational, and regulatory risks associated with carbon performance and develop decision-making frameworks that incorporate carbon risk into real estate investments and strategy.
\tSpearhead cross-functional initiatives within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adeptly navigating high levels of ambiguity and adjusting strategies as needed.
\tPrepare white papers and presentations to stakeholders and leadership that distill key metrics and provide insights into recommended strategies.
\tImprove the data quality in the models by establishing processes to work with stakeholders to ingest data from sites and calibrate models.

A day in the life

Our team is looking for a dedicated leader to drive carbon modelling and analytics for Amazon's real estate portfolio. We need someone who takes ownership, dives deep to learn, and delivers impactful results. You will leverage expertise in carbon accounting, and goal setting to address complex, long-term challenges. You will oversee the management of carbon datasets across diverse building types, supporting data-driven decision-making for the Worldwide Operations network. Your insights will inform multidisciplinary technical teams, enabling alignment with corporate sustainability goals and fostering confidence in achieving net-zero carbon targets through innovative strategies and solutions.

Global Realty is Amazon's WWOps real estate organization, delivering top-tier real estate solutions for operational needs. Within it Global Realty Sustainability & Renewable Energy is part of the Global Realty Sustainable Development (GSD) team which leads pioneering building and engineering designs and cost strategies that exceed industry standards, benefiting Amazon's internal clients. GSD's work aligns with Global Realty's vision: to set the global benchmark in sustainable real estate for employees, customers, and communities. GSD drives Amazon's sustainable real estate, supporting The Climate Pledge across Amazon's portfolio by advancing decarbonization (Scope 1, 2, 3), renewable energy, regenerative design, biodiversity, and real estate sustainability programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study such as environmental science, architecture, engineering, sustainability, real estate, or related field

- 5+ years of demonstrated program/technical program management experience with sustainable building standards and sustainability related modeling and analytics.

- Demonstrated experience in building performance modeling (energy, embodied carbon, or similar)

- Experience with large commercial and/or industrial building design

- Experience with life cycle assessment (LCA) tools and methodologies for whole-life carbon accounting

- Ability to collect, analyze, and manage complex carbon datasets.

- Experience procuring and managing consultants and vendors from RFP through project completion

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's or other advanced degree(s) in science, sustainability, architecture, engineering, business administration, data science, or related fields

- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, able to clearly define intent and drive solutions with multiple stakeholders

- Experience developing and implementing processes to streamline operations, driving automation, and standardization

- Experience with assessing and managing carbon risks and overall sustainability performance in real estate and corporate strategies.

- Experience with REVIT/BIM modeling.

- Familiarity with relevant global sustainability standards and regulations (e.g., SBTi, ISO standards, local and international climate policies).

- Familiarity with frameworks like Carbon Risk Evaluation and Energy Modeling (CREEM), Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).

- Active LEED Accredited Professional, Passive House Certification, Project Management Professional Certification, Architectural Registration, Professional Engineer Registration, CEM and/or other building professional accreditation

- Experience in building portfolio management and/or corporate carbon reporting (e.g. GRESB, CRI, CDP, 2030 Challenge)

- Knowledge in technology strategy that drives architectural, construction and RE expansion innovation, including support of scalable ML solutions that positively impact building efficiency and utilization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
