City Planner

Job Location: San Luis Obispo, Clovis, or Visalia

Monday Thursday: 9 hours / Friday: 4 hours

Responsibilities

4Creeks is seeking a City Planner to work under the direction of a Principal Planner on our Planning team. Responsibilities for this position would include:
  • Provides management direction to personnel in the planning and implementation of city planning, entitlement processing, environmental evaluation and review processes, and other related community development services.
  • Confers with other City divisions and departments, government agencies, community members, and business representatives to analyze community development needs and policies.
  • Develop and recommend program and policy changes, coordinate division activities, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Serves as staff and technical adviser to various committees and commissions including the Planning Commission.
  • Confers with development applicants and citizens by acquiring and coordinating planning reviews, attending meetings, performing presentations, responding to questions, and monitoring planning processes.
  • Selects, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the work of private planning, environmental, and other consulting firms to ensure the quality and timeliness of services delivered.
  • Coordinates, maintains, and monitors the establishment of effective operational systems, including the processing of land use entitlement applications, annexations, and environmental reviews under CEQA and NEPA.
  • Staying up to date on zoning, building and construction codes, environmental policies, and additional regulations

This position primarily entails in-office work (on-site or remote as required by jurisdiction).

Minimum Qualifications
  • The position requires a B.S. in Planning or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in related work content and project management experience.
  • Bonus points for AICP certification.
  • The ideal candidate will have working knowledge in familiarity with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and similar State and federal regulations required, exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related programs for City Planning documentation.
  • Possess strong time management, team collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Compensation

    The salary will be determined by the candidate's skill and experience level and highly competitive with industry standards. The benefits package includes full employee health coverage (50% coverage for dependents), company 401(k) contribution, participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) and performance bonuses. The expected pay range for these positions is $80,000-$100,000 annually, however is dependent on years and level of experience.

    Must have a valid CA Drivers License and a vehicle that can drive up to 100 miles. Business use of personal vehicles will be compensated for appropriately. Employees must follow all company policies related to vehicles, including safety, insurance, and other applicable policies.
