The Opportunity

Smart & Biggar is currently looking for an experienced bilingual Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our HR team. In this role, you will play a key role in providing strategic HR guidance and leading the HR cycle activities for a diverse population of employees located throughout Canada.

Responsibilities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to Practice Group Leaders, offering tailored solutions to meet business needs
  • Act as the primary HR contact for assigned employee population, including employee relations, compensation, succession planning, performance coaching, and talent development.
  • Analyze talent trends and feedback to recommend strategies for improving engagement, productivity, and retention.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on various projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate with the HR team and executive leadership on projects and initiatives to support business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Human Resources

Qualifications, competencies, and experience.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Professional HR designation is considered an asset
  • 8-10 years of progressive HR experience in a legal or professional services environment, with at least 5 years in an advisory role
  • Demonstrated ability to lead HR initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Ability and motivation to question the status quo, influence senior leaders, develop innovative solutions, and drive change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and build relationships and deliver presentations in both English and French
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs
