Description:

The Director of Nursing functions as the chief nurse executive and has 24 hour a day/seven days a week responsibility for nursing treatment services provided for adult detoxification and military rehab under facility's license as a Facility for the Treatment and Care of Substance Abusive or Dependent Persons (the "Facility"). This individual serves as key member of Facility leadership. The Director of Nursing promotes client care consistent with the philosophy, mission and objectives of The Facility. The Director of Nursing allocates 20 hours per week of regularly scheduled on-site time to Facility operations. The Director of Nursing position does not require drop down coverage, with the exception of an instance of critical staffing crisis.

Registered Nurse (RN) Requirement:

Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a current State of Connecticut RN license; MSN preferred. One year experience with substance abuse treatment population preferred; three years supervisory experience and administrative/management experience required.

Skills:

Knowledge of nursing practices and functions involved in the provision of adult detoxification treatment and adolescent residential treatment services.

Ability to interpret and implement State of Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) and Department of Mental & Addiction Services (DMHAS) regulations regarding substance abuse and treatment and mental health treatment, as well as Joint Commission standards and Department of Children and Families (DCF) Nursing Guidelines.

Ability to interpret and implement ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria.

Professional integrity and leadership skills in interactions with all members of the treatment system.

Initiates appropriate and innovative practices in dealing with the client population and with all team members.

Ability to present information in an articulate, resourceful fashion to all team members through appropriate communication skills.
