Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a qualified full-time Lymphoma and Hematopathologist.Experience/interest in Flow Cytometry oversight and/or Molecular Pathology would be an asset. The successful applicant may also be considered for appointment with the University of Alberta's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.

The Department of Lab Medicine & Pathology, with 100+ pathologists' functions as a Center of Excellence, supported by state-of-the-art ancillary testing capabilities (immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular pathology). APL North Sector offers a full range of clinical services including two level I trauma centers, solid organ transplantation, high risk obstetrics, Level 1-3 neonatal intensive care, hematology-oncology, and cardiovascular surgery services.

Job Summary & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical reporting, and consultation for hematopathology and Lymphoma pathology cases for patients from Edmonton and Northern Alberta. This role will involve close collaboration with clinicians, including dermatologists treating cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorders. Clinical duties also include offering medical oversight to technical and regulatory processes and procedures, including quality assurance, hemovigilance and occurrence management. The pathologist will perform testing of specimens to provide diagnostic and predictive information to laboratory physician and clinicians, to help guide optimal care for patients with cancer and other diseases. Pathologist must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics and must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. The pathologist will actively participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching. This position may consist of involvement and interaction with different APL laboratory sites in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Hematological Pathology, or in Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology/General Pathology certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology with a Hematopathology fellowship and lymphoma sign-out experience or a Lymphoma Fellowship with bone marrow sign out experience. A proven track record of collegiality and collaborative practice is required.
