ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective of this role is to achieve volume/price and EBIT for the River Region aggregates market. (St. Louis
to the Gulf of Mexico).

The Commercial Manager works closely with operations, logistics and materials performance teams to ensure effective
planning, managing costs and inventory levels, and ensure the customer receives the highest quality of products and
services in a timely manner.

The position will be located in Baton Rouge, LA or Franklin, TN.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Customer Focus: Provide customer focus for the area management team. Reinforce the needs of the customers.
  • Continuously develops offerings to differentiate Holcim as the supplier of choice. Assists team in building strong relationships with key existing and potential customers.
  • Product Line Coordination: work closely with other relevant Holcim product lines (i.e., ready mix concrete and cement) to ensure a consistent and effective offering to the customer, and that all potential synergies are maximized.
  • Strategic Planning: Responsible for coordinating the completion of the strategic framework and related action plans for the market area. This is done annually in association with the rest of the area management and sales team. Ensure market intelligence is effectively collected, analyzed, and stored.
  • Sales Forecasting: Builds effective monthly sales forecasts for the management team. Manages the sales backlog in Salesforce and compares to prior periods to assess the risk/probability of meeting targets (volume, price, gross margin). Assigns accountability and develops actions for uncommitted volumes.
  • Tracks and interprets market indicators (i.e., construction starts, building permits, housing sales) to understand key aggregate demand drivers.
  • Customer Service and Logistics: Coordinates with the logistics team to manage the transportation services for
  • Holcim (barge, truck, and rail). Responsible for developing a logistics strategy to effectively manage the market and provide practical and low-cost transportation services for Holcim's customers.
  • Budgeting: Prepares a detailed annual budget with sound strategy/rationale. Accountability is assigned throughout the sales team.
  • Credit and Collections: Works closely with the credit department to ensure that outstanding receivables are collected quickly. Assists with complex collection accounts.
  • Human Resources: Develops and motivates staff. Selects, hires, trains, and terminates as required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental
    policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Degree Preferred: Bachelors/Undergraduate Degreeor Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience; aggregates, ready mix, or heavy construction industry experience
  • Master's Degree in Business preferred
  • Preferred field of study: Business, Marketing, Engineering
  • Proficient computer skills required - prior experience using SAP and Salesforce is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Excellent people management skills: ability to develop effective internal and external working relationships
  • Disciplined and process-oriented

  • Displays high level of intellectual horsepower and business acumen


Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
