JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Nurse Educator, or nurse instructor, is a registered nurse (RN) who serves as a teacher for other nurses and individuals who wish to become nurses. Their duties include developing lesson plans, giving lectures, and evaluating their students in clinical settings and through examinations and assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training to all those looking to become CNAs
- Provide ongoing in-service programs to the health care staff regarding all aspects of resident care, infection control, policies, procedures, and equipment in classrooms and on units
- Establish, coordinate, document, and evaluate all education programs within the facility
- Maintain accurate records of all in-service programs held along with employee attendance records
- Ensure compliance with state code requirements regarding training, orientation, documentation, and nursing care
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York required
- Current Train the Trainer certification preferred, not required (training is provided)
- Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred/Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
- Strong customer service skills and compassion
