Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer - 3PDC is responsible for the planning, design, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within third-party data center environments. This role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of electrical infrastructure to support mission-critical IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and review electrical systems, including power distribution, UPS, backup generators, grounding, and lighting systems within 3rd-party data centers.
  • Perform load calculations, short circuit studies, and protective device coordination using appropriate software (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and vendors to integrate electrical solutions with overall facility design.
  • Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams during installation and startup phases.
  • Develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications in compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local codes.
  • Evaluate and approve materials, equipment, and vendors in accordance with project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and implement corrective actions for power failures, outages, or anomalies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and protocols, including OSHA and company standards.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend improvements for cost and energy savings.
  • ssist with RFPs, technical documentation, and bid analysis for outsourced engineering and construction services.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design and operations within critical infrastructure, such as data centers or large commercial/industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design software; familiarity with BIM is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with third-party colocation providers.
  • Knowledge of data center certification requirements (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier levels).
  • Experience with sustainability and green energy practices.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, Client, or DCIM systems.
